Not to mention, Warrior DPS is not bad at all, and you do have a fair amount of button twitching to do to hold aggro or maximize your DPS. Certainly far more than I do as a Paladin, trust me.
Druids, on the other hand, are only taken for instances as healers, pretty much, and then only as backup or if people can't find a priest. The feral stuff is functionally useless in most instance runs, and balance spec doesn't exactly help either, as if they want real DPS, they'll get a shaman, mage, rogue or warlock. You almost never see a single-group instance run seek out a Druid specifically for druid abilities. They're too much a tweener class. They don't do any one thing particularly well, and while they can do a lot of different stuff, there's no reason to take a Druid over the specific classes.

hrm, I don't see that
We use druid to TM a fair amount, and cat form can be nifty in certain places
I do find that a lot of pickup groups are giant pussies and won't go without 2 healers AND a warrior
guild groups tho, we're fine with shaman as sole healer, and/or druid to tank
note: Thanks Jaz ; )
I played my druid to 39 before I gave him up.
I did not like the class and spent a fair time in instances and groups.
They are an OK backup healer. I had a fair amount of talents in feral and the points to reduce mana cost and speed up transformations.
If they are well played they can be semi useful. I would regularly switch between healing and off-tanking adds with the bear form and if things were going well cat for damage.
To be truly useful you need a priest to do the majority of healing and constantly switch forms dependant upon the situation. Another key thing IMO is to try and do the majority of your spot healing in spurts... Burn up your mana, shift, kill/tank then back to healing when your mana has replenished. Rinse/repeat.
Most druids don't do this so IMO they are mostly useless. In a way a druid is like the EQ necro. Good class ONLY if played very well.
Now speaking of classes there are a few things I really miss about EQ in comparison to WoW.
The EQ monk for one. From beginning and thru RoK a good monk was hard to find and pulling was a fucking art.
They need to reimplement the whole idea of pulling and splitting mobs. It was never really intended but it adds a whole new level of strategy and gameplay.
I definitely play a rogue because it is the closest thing to a monk IMO in WoW.
I would also like to see the warlock become a lot more like the EQ necro in terms of some degree of crowd control and tons of mana and insane long-term sustainable damage.
Lastly and most importantly this game needs a real fucking enchanter.
I miss the ability to have real crowd control, charming and the cool buffs.
To much of WoW is an oversimplified zergfest. EQ had a great deal more complexity that has gone away with the diversity of the classes.
I do really like the leveling curves in WoW compared to EQ but I would like to see more alternative ways to tackle problems versus charge the room and pray for victory.
