Help Me Find Engagement Rings

Post by Sarthis »

I got engaged last weekend to a really incredible girl, but I'm having some troubles figuring out what kind of engagement ring to snag. Some of ya'll might have some experience in this realm, and I could use some help.

She seems to be wanting something celtic/irish/scottish, she does not want a real diamond (she wants to avoid conflict diamonds), and she dislikes gold.

Anyone have any jumping off points for me to look?

We're waiting another 2-4 years to actually get married, but I don't see any point to waiting past that.

I agree. Wait until you marry, like dont set a near future date...

anyway, my engagement ring has two TINY diamonds on either side, and a garnet in the center. Nothing too fancy and nothing that I would hate if my tastes in things were to change. White gold, and not expensive since it isnt diamond heavy. Wedding ring is while gold band that matches Gid's.

Not the best picture and it probably wont even show up, someone else will have to fix it for me, but its all I have to explain what I have.

Little over seven years, though there were some gaps in there.

This isn't a "talk Sarthis out of getting married" thread though, I'm looking to see engagement rings and stuff of that ilk so I can get some ideas.

Nono, this isn't a "talk sarthis out of getting married" thread.

I would never try to do that.

If she makes you happy, buy her the ring. Don't listen to bitter little men who can't find happiness.

That site has some stellar ones.

Ginz, it's a matter of if someone wants to play <like Vonk> or is happy with who they have and wants a future. Sarthis knows his situation and seems mature.

He's free now, Darc. Also, didn't you just get married at a younger age than Sarthis (For a second time)? :cool6:

Yup, married before I could vote, divorced before I could legally drink, then married again at 21.

Does she like white gold or yellow? That'd be the most important thing I'd think with an engagement ring, followed by if she prefers larger stones, more extravagant, or simple and smaller

You say she dislikes gold. Is that just yellow gold or gold in general? If its just yellow, you could go with white gold. Or ofcource platinum if you want to shell out the $$ for it.

She dislikes the yellow gold, she really has liked some of the white gold stuff I've gotten her in the past.

I'm not sure about the stone size though, I've seen her wear both large and small stones. She is a chef though, so wearing something that has a large stone isn't always as convienent in the kitchen, so I think I'm leaning towards something with a smaller stone, or something that doesn't stick out as much.

I thought you suppose to have the engagment ring when you propose. Anyway, i saw on tv a couple weeks ago that the ring Affleck gave Jho for their engagement is for sale. Get her that.

I thought the same thing Phelgm, it came up kind of spontaneously -- I was planning on waiting until July or November to propose.

We're avoiding Tiffany's because they use conflict diamonds.

Every time you say conflict diamonds I think of Gustav Graves.
