Lyion, that list is a very good reason for why one should CHOOSE not to smoke pot. I'm in complete agreement with that.

However, what you guys don't seem to get is, making something illegal isn't just a government stamp saying "no no no" to the obvious risks of pot. It's stating that if someone decides that they want to take the risks of inhaling an unhealthy plant for their own pleasure, we are going to send men with guns after them and imprison them against their will for a long time for it. Thats just utterly barbaric in my eyes.

The fact is, some people are going to decide that they want to potentially sacrifice their physical and/or mental health for the sake of pleasure. If these people aren't infringing on anyone elses rights, I don't see why anyone should stop them. Or should we also illegalize skydiving, because of its obvious health risks?

About the only drug I would consider keeping illegal would be PCP, and only because it is often creates a nasty combination of violence, loss of awareness, and immunity to pain, which is a direct threat to other people.

Nobody is stopping them. Anyone can get on a plane and fly to Amsterdam. You can even move there!

Unlike skydiving, the rehab, welfare, and health costs when druggies live in cancer treatment early in life for a few years before dying is going to have to be covered by taxpayers more than likely.

In all seriousness, I think we agree a lot Yamori. I do not want massive penalties, a DEA, or heavy enforcement of drug policy. The only thing that irks me is when society ends up having to completely support a group due to their 'habits'.

But I do not think drug legalization would be good for America. I'm not for it.

legalisation could prove extremely successful in controlling disorders and preventing them from occurring.

of course, it could always turn out the wrong way and i could see stores stocked with cocaine and morphine being robbed daily... so the fix for this would be more security, but the gov't would rather spend money trying to abolish them and doing more harm than good.

an RX store selling the base form of almost every type of current drug would be such a positive to me. like the heroin houses they have in the UK and the one that recently opened in canada. having physicians administer the drug and restraining the patient from abusing it. this wouldn't completely rid drug disorders from society as prescriptions are easily abused as is, but it'd be regulated dosage.

FYI, I'm not arguing for the legalisation of drugs on a recreational level, but strictly pharmaceutical. all of the drugs that are illicit now started off in pharmacies and i think that they still have a place there. the only problem is between society and drugs: abuse

If anyone honestly tries to tell me marijuana use doesn't affect memory, I laugh in their face.

I see it daily. No bullshit "study" by a bunch of hippies is going to change the fact of what I see on a day to day basis.

that reminds me of the branch of NORML in nevada

lawmakers told them "get X number of signatures on a petition by this certain deadline and we'll put it on the ballot"

NORML said OKAY!!! and hit the streets in force

they had enough signatures almost a month before the deadline...

...but then forgot to turn it in

I have no problems with marijuana at all.

Just don't try to hide the fact it dulls the knife.
