Green tea

Hi

I'm looking for a good green tea brand that'll make yummy *cold* green tea to sip on all day - generally I prefer the Sobe, but that's got way too much sugar in it and I'm looking for bags that I can brew at home

Currently I have the Lipton - haven't tried it yet but am going to make some now.. I suppose I could try every brand at the store but that would be a waste of money, especially if I don't like it

I know there are a few (Hi Leah!) that lovelovelove green tea..so hoping you guys can give me some suggestions

I found some Green Tea with passionfruit and splenda at Big Lots. It was yummylicious. The kids even liked it. It was in one of those cans like Crystal Light.

I just tried the Lipton tea bags - they're pretty good, but don't really taste like Green Tea to me.. more like regular tea. I'm thinking the Sobe brand has a little twinge of mint in it

Brew some black tea with a little, and I mean a little sugar water added after it is done, but still hot.

Let it cool to room temp then refrigerate it all you want.

Arizona brand tea that you can buy at convenience stores sells a good green tea with honey. If you look around they sell a gallon size.

Diet Arizona Green Tea Rules. You can by it by the 1 gallon bottles too. Trader Joe's has it as well as many supermarkets.

i've never found one that tastes as good cold either... but as far as green tea goes, i go for Tazo Zen (i think... it's either Zen or Awake) and it's good stuff.

You know those cute little pouches of Crystal Light you can buy and carry in your purse? The ones you just dump into a water bottle and shake? I found that Lipton makes these for tea toO! Well don't go down the kool-aid aisle looking for it.. they are around $4-5 . I went down the aisle that has the chocolate syrup and canisters of iced tea mix, and found the pouches of green tea!! Made by Lipton! They also have iced tea flavored with lemon

AND they were only like $2.99 and less for a box of 14.

That reminds me....they are warning now that if you reuse plastic water bottles more than 2-3 times that the plastic in the bottles actually breaks down and can cause you to get ill.

why dont you just buy the actual green tea leaves and brew it yourself instead of the prebrewed one.

I've heard that white tea is even better for you than gree tea. Has anyone heard of it / tried it?

Look in your local area for a tea store, if baltimore the most uncultured city I know of has 3 or 4 of them, there must be one close to you too then = P

The actual tea leaf is much better than the processed version. The taste is much more, crisp I guess would be the word. I used to lvoe tea, not much anymore but I would drink 3 or 4 cups day, good stuff.

I just tried this last week, and I think I'm hooked. I also have bags that are by Celestial Seasonings, they aren't bad either.

Here is an article from Reuters on green tea and cancer prevention:

WASHINGTON - Contrary to what some studies claim, green tea probably does not help prevent breast, prostate or any other type of cancer, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Thursday.

It said studies supporting the assertions are only weak.

"Two studies do not show that drinking green tea reduces the risk of breast cancer in women, but one weaker, more limited study suggests that drinking green tea may reduce this risk," the FDA said in a statement.

"Based on these studies, FDA concludes that it is highly unlikely that green tea reduces the risk of breast cancer."

Likewise, only one "weak and limited" study shows that drinking green tea can reduce the risk of prostate cancer, the FDA said.

"The FDA also concluded that existing evidence does not support qualified health claims for green tea consumption and a reduced risk of any other type of cancer," the agency said.
