it's been a while now, how's EQ2
I know a lot of people who started, and quit saying it sucked
I know some utter fanboys who loved it right off the bat
how does it compare to EQ1?
ps I don't give a fuck how it compares to WoW, so don't even mention WoW

I liked tradeskills in 1 better, I still dont know wtf to do in 2.
I'm not high enough level to matter, I'm only 11 or something, but I find a LOT of mobs are tied together. I havent found a way to split pull, so exp has gotten a bit slow for me. In 1, there werent as many 5mob encounters in low levels.
I kind of like the combat thingy in 2. Much more to do than hitting A and going to grab a beer, as in 1.
In conclusion, I like 2 better, but it could be that I am still a n00b at it and I am still learning.

Gads, you can't compare tradeskills. They are amazing in EQ2, and complete ass in EQ.
The game itself has undergone heavy gyrations with the addition of a ton of content, quests, and more things to do.
The game still needs its scheduled combat upgrade, the HO system is still ass, and they still need to optimize the engine some but the game is coming along nicely.

I started playing regularly a few weeks ago since I am unemplyed till August when the students get back and I can resume tormenting them.
As lyion said, it needs the combat balance pass they are working on but other than that they have made a good game better.
Tons of new abilities, the second adventure pack comes out late this month which will add instanced zones that auto set to your solo or group average level.
The outdoor zones are full of solo content now, so much that you really need to go into the dungeons to get a grinding group.
Soloing is completely possible now and there are at least 12 instances that you can repeat as many times as you want spread over the levels.
Personally I have been doing the full adventure pack missions for the vampire expansion the last few days. Really good story line, and except for part 2 of the access to the crypt quests which was a tedious piece of shit, allthe missions have been fun.
They have also added puzzles into the games, where you ahve to move things, set things up, blow things up, etc in certain ways/patterns to progress in dungeons. I haven't done any yet since only the Splitpaw preview zone has them and I am still killing Vampires for the vampire illusion, but everyone I see talking about them love them.
The mentoring system is also nice, means guilds with large ranges of levels and classes can still raid and do things together unlike in EQ1. We did the guild reward raids last week and for the 2 lower ones all the high levels could still come and mentor.
All and all very nice.

Oh and I could mention the bad things.
1- Class balance is a joke right now. They are working on it but I bet it will be another month or two before we start seeing anythign major.
Ex, scouts are worthless crap. Guardians are gods and in some situations can get 100% mitigation and 100% avoidance, even before that level its fun to listen to them complain that they can barely solo +8 level red con solo mobs. Tanks outdamage scouts and many times nuking classes. Within the tank classes there are major differences in abilities. In scout classes only dirges are really loved and then only from lvl 30-when other players buy horses. Priests are gettign some major healing revamps, mage classes are as varied as tanks for abilities.
2- The market is all screwed up atm. All the servers lost quite a few of the top sellers and farmers a couple weeks ago when SOE banned a few thousand bot accounts, pulling shitloads of stuff off the market, removing tons of money from the game, and sendign prices all over the place. Then they released froglocks so prices went even more crazy with half the servers making frog twink alts and buying up all low level stuff for huge prices.
3- /duel was not added this last big patch as was anticipated

Warrs and priests.
And kiral, lvl 50 raids are only a very small part of the game. , and if you parse some of the tanks are still likely outdamaging you, the priests have more buff and debuff versatility, etc.

hahaha, i dont see a guardian coming remotly close to out-dpsing me. A berserker, at times, on AoE encounters (because of rampage), can. But that isnt on all raids.
Not even warlocks assasins or rangers touch me.. a bruiser can be competition. bout it. Im a brigand
And my debuff do over 2k melee migitation, slashing, piercing, crushing etc. Tell me of another class with that sort of buff. There is inquisitor.. but theirs is a big whooping 200. mine is 2000. And i can keep it on perma.
Plus an extra attk that debuff piercing as well. Slows. stuns. Parry / agi / defense debuff.
Rofl. Scouts worthless. Right
PS: Not even a defiler or inquisitor top me debuff wise
Wrangle -- Decreases enemy defense, parry, agility, and has a chance to lower movement speed.
Debilitate -- Launches a very low damage attack that decreases crushing, piercing, and slashing damage resistance of the enemy.
Run through -- A high damage stealth attack that snares the target, reduces strength, and deals piercing damage over time.
Murderous rake -- An attack that lowers the target's agility. It must be activated from behind.
Gambit -- A flanking attack that deals medium damage, decreases enemy defense, INTERRUPT spells, and has a chance to stun.
Waylay -- An attack that has a medium chance to stun and briefly reduces the defense of the enemy
Concealed blade -- A quick attack that knocks down enemy, reduces wisdom, and slows attack speed.
Aggravated assault -- Two high damage attacks that decrease enemy piercing resistance and interrupts casting.
Snag -- Decreases enemy movement speed with a short duration slow on dissipation.
Over all i debuff agi by about 80. strenght of 95. Defense by 15. Parry by 8. Piercing by 2.5k, slashing crushing by 2k, I slow for 40 %. I snare for 200 %
Find me someone that does all that and still do an average of 300 dps per mob.
And pps. one of my sais. only one in-game at the moment has a 20 % chance to stifle (silence)

I love my troub. Funnest class in the game (IMO).
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

I agree with Kiral,
Scouts are not worthless, the scouts in my guild on raids average 200-250 dps, our assasin is just a badass and so is the brigand....their specials are great, but even better adept 3/master...Our Ranger does between 180-210 dps on raids..
Our warlocks and wizards do insane amounts of dps, sometimes they surpass the scouts...
hands down our dirge and troubador keep up with the ass/brigand class
I am a 50 guardian, have prismatic and a nice hammer I use for king in CL and drayek does nice dmg and proc between 113-309 fire dmg, all my skills are mastered/ adept 3 and all my buffs are cureently adept 3 one mastered, I add about 1.5k hps in buffs, I dont complain about my dps, because I am mainly there to get beat on..
I like the tradeskilling, have been a 50 provisionary for about 3 months, mainly TS for guild hardly ever sell it to much competition and I dont have that much time, I am always doing writs or raiding...
overall I like eq2 better than eq1
