I don't give a fuck what they do. It's one religion that peoople should not respect. As a Christian we are to respect other religions, but that is not one of them. They should be put to death just for what they believe in. Extreme u liberals say? U morons.
You sound like a very well adjusted member of society...no, really.

You should be put to death.
We do, and our judgement is just as valid as yours, actually more valid, since there's more of us saying it about you.
What harm does it do to you, or anyone else, WHAT someone believes in, as long as what they're doing isn't causing harm to anyone?
Not that Anton LaVey isn't a loon, cause he is, but seems a pretty severe reaction from someone like Lyion, who has always claimed to be "Tolerant of all faiths".... Some tolerance, eh?

*shrug* There's lots of people that think Christianity is "simply wrong". I've heard *MANY* christians say that all other religions, or even other flavors of christianity are "wrong". That's just it, no faith is universally right, no faith is universally wrong, assuming that no one is committing harm on other people. (ie, sacrificing babies, etc.) It's all in what works for a given individual, even if what works best for them is no faith at all.
As I've said repeatedly: I couldn't begin to care less what faith someone is, as long as they keep it to themselves. It's when people try and legislate a faith, force it on others, or claim that faith is a substitute for science that I have an issue.

Wow you guys, I gotta dedicate one post here to quotes.
Actually that was a pretty damn concise paragraph. I am trying to express my thoughts fairly delicately here, and without wasting 3 paragraphs of redundancies just so that I can avoid you saying such... so I am using the preview button. Please bear with me.
I also suggest churchofsatan.com for a less aggressive view of Satanism.
Not really, no. Sometimes things said in this forum strike a chord in me and it plagues my mind until I vomit it back to reshape it into some other digestible form. You always knew I am Athiest and still am. You should send me a PM sometime if you have a question about my beliefs before you outcast a friendship on such silliness.

Yamori wrote:Thats just it though, it's not about being "Evil" - it's about showing that many things which have been considered evil for a thousand years are actually good things - mainly - questioning everything, selfishness, and hedonism. These are things that have been blamed on the devil - so I don't think it is an entirely illogical premise to build a quasi religion on that in response.

ok, so... Outside of the Magick and Intolerance, I find Satanism to be a pretty apropriate & acceptable religion. It has a number of members who give it a bad name (like everything), but the Satanism suited for me is devoid of the qualities which would prompt someone to look upon a "Satanist" as a misguided teen and educate me how it's a mere social status symbol for shock value.
The 2 particular words I found to describe how I see a CoS would best function in my hedonistic views, which I mentioned, are concilation and eudemonism. To extol that and disregard magickal rites etc. would make for a strong church I think.
I had no idea how much The Devil's Notebook influenced me before re-reading it earlier this week. Within the 6 years it's been settling since my initial reading as a teen, I have found myself hesitantly agreeing with a huge percentage of it. This is shit I disregarded for the same reasons you all are claiming to. Yet somehow it imbedded itself as "logic" in my head.
And yes, Anton LaVey is a loon.

That is of course if you're a fucking idiot and take the words of someone on a messageboard to be the model of which you base judgement on.

"The Bible, which is a very interesting and here and there very profound book when considered as one of the oldest surviving manifestations of human wisdom and fancy, expresses this truth very naively in its myth of original sin. Jehovah, who of all the good gods adored by men was certainly the most jealous, the most vain, the most ferocious, the most unjust, the most bloodthirsty, the most despotic, and the most hostile to human dignity and liberty - Jehovah had just created Adam and Eve, to satisfy we know not what caprice; no doubt to while away his time, which must weigh heavy on his hands in his eternal egoistic solitude, or that he might have some new slaves. He generously placed at their disposal the whole earth, with all its fruits and animals, and set but a single limit to this complete enjoyment. He expressly forbade them from touching the fruit of the tree of knowledge. He wished, therefore, that man, destitute of all understanding of himself, should remain an eternal beast, ever on all-fours before the eternal God, his creator and his master. But here steps in Satan, the eternal rebel, the first freethinker and the emancipator of worlds. He makes man ashamed of his bestial ignorance and obedience; he emancipates him, stamps upon his brow the seal of liberty and humanity, in urging him to disobey and eat of the fruit of knowledge." -- Mikhail Bakunin, God and the State
