So let's start with the first 30 seconds of me logging in.
I see a link to http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=68234

Im thinking, what in the fuck is that?
After finding out, I scrolled back up and seen people asking where is Lguk...this caused me to /who this person. and theyre fucking 65.

How in the flying fuck did you get to 65 and EP, without once touching foot in Lguk or at least KNOWING where it is? (obviously excluding an ebayed character)

There are more examples of this, but I will ask the rest of you if you have seen these fucking newbies?
Or better yet, do you see anything wrong with this quite in the same way I do?

(weak rant I know, but needed to get it out)

that's what was cool about EQ back in the day, it was a lot harder and we all could out level the noobs. now they've had plenty of time, and a much easier game, to catch up to the endgame and ruin it.

I can see what you're saying. Lguk was the bomb a long time ago. But i played 3 1/2- 4 years'ish and there were some zones i never visited. I looked at teh maps list on EQatlas and here's all the zones i never went to.
Note: I'm only including pre-PoP zones, as i didnt get real far as in flags, never played GoD or LDoN, and LoY zones were too low for me being 65. Plus who cares about LoY. Also excluding keyed "uber" zones like VP, ST, and VT.

Befallen
The Hole
Dalnir
Howling Stones (got my key, but never visited)
Warsliks Woods (except for running from shit in OT, never explored)

That's not a whole lot of zones, but it's some content i missed out on, because there was no reason for me to go there. I can understand why a newb playing a year or less probably wouldn't visit zones like guk, because there are better places to go now ie: better xp/loot/chance to find groups.

maybe SOE put an item like that in Lguk, so more people have an incentive to go back to Guk. The newer zones are crowded as hell i bet.

Dalnir is the bomb. I almost quit, then on a fluke I found that place. Totally turned the game around for me.

The Hole sucks tho. Except for being a monk and soloing the entrance for mad xp due to the bonus.

Dalnir was an awesome 25-35 dungeon if you had a good group

the Hole was awesome, but intimidating

Befallen was cool, except when i started, a lot of people had no idea how to play in a dungeon, so it was extra dangerous at lvl 9

I still hope that the next expansion is just a revamp of the old world zones
they're still the best zones, and the most interesting

I like it when people give me shit for not knowing what some LDoN-GoD zones are then I come right back and ask em where Kaesora is or some old school Kunark zone and they just say "L0L stfu fgt!"

P.S. Fuck you, Cobalt Greaves are worth 100k damn it!

I've been in the game since 1999 and I'll be the first to admit I usually have no fucking clue where I am half the time. I'm just not the kind of person who plays the game and remembers my way back out of a zone. Hell, in RL you could blind fold me, spin me around and tell me to point north... I'd have no clue whatsoever.

Why expect a new player to know about the old world zones? There's little or no chance they'll have to bother going to U/L Guk, Sol a/b, Kaesora, OS, wherever .. How often do you see pick up groups in those zones nowdays? The only time you'll see people in those zones are the PLers.

If I just started playing EQ today, why would I spend the time running to one of these zones to only see 2 anon people in the zone, then have to run back to another zone still LFG. Not every is a fucking noob, as you put it, just because they started playing the game after those zones were popular. I started playing after Luclin was released, did 2 exp sessions in Cazic Thule.. guess that makes me a fucking noob.

I feel kind of bad for them if anything. My favorite zones are still places like guk, os, cd, the hole, etc. Those zones were so much more fun then pop zones- /yawn. GoD seems to be adding more of the old world type fun in it though from what little I've seen. Dungeons are actually lethal when you screw up, random see invis mobs, no gy's (cr fun!), etc.

On a completely different note, what about the idea of making non-tradeable loot. Basically the same thing as no drop, but you are able to move it between char's via shared bank slot. Put lvl restrictions on it so you can't take Time gear and put it on your lvl 1 twink (bad example as it's already lvl 65 req'd, but you know what I mean). Put this stuff on revamped old world mobs and you'd see more people hunting in those zones, not to sell stuff (which cuts down on the farmers/ebayers), but just to maybe equip a new alt.

Just a thought- might not be a good one though.

I think for me it was more I forgot where 3'swas. But I did know how to get to the zone. As far as Lguk goes I know alot of people avoided it. If I recall properly it went something like this before pop...LOIO, FM, OT, DL then KC. That was pre-luclin and pop. Most people who know about the exp Mod in Lguk dont like sharing that secret.

Not for monks. Monks own Sol B solo from 38-55 easy. 38-44 or so you take windows camp solo, by the way there is an eccelant (sp?) time to get bw up in this place. 44-50 you take bats. 50-55 is LDC's. If you can get a slower to PL you (65 sham) you can go to efreeti, killing the guys on the way there give you monsterous exp. and Efreeti himself can drop a ring or boots, which is cool too. Plus it's a cool zone to learn for anyone, not only monks.
