Why would it matter if doctors believe in God or not?

I hate when people "thank God" for stuff. Like my mother saying, "I brought you up as a single mother and you turned out great, Thank God for that" to which I reply, "actually I thiink I'll thank you because God probably had nothing to do with it". Or when they found that boyscout in the woods after 4 days and his dad says, "it was divine intervention!"

A. I don't believe the earth is 300+million years old.
B. I don't believe man evolved from mudskipper-to<insert other animal here>-to<insert primate here>-to-<modern day homonid>
C. I don't believe that the "big bang" occurred.

My aunt is a doctor and is Christian because she was raised as such. Another doctor in her practice is agnostic because, like me, he turned from the church when they started differing from his viewpoint.

It's all in how you are raised, not what profession you are in. They are just regular people like you or me.

I liked the article. To me, it shows a lot of atheist/agnostic knuckleheads that VERY intelligent people believe in God, and so it should make something stir in their heads, like "hmm, if scientists, doctors, and astrophysicists believe in God... why don't I?" I like articles that make people THINK.

I already knew that there's quite a few intelligent people who are atheists. I'm not debating that point. The point that you are missing is that all too many atheists think they are "one up" on Christians and think they are superior for some bizarre twisted reason. When I see articles like this it give me that warm, fuzzy feeling.

What I persieved from your post was that since these prominent people believed that should make everyone that doesn't, believe.

I, as an atheist, do not feel that I am one up on someone who finds personal gratification from believing and finding salvation in their faith. I do find it appalling that some of those people find it necessary to push their beliefs on someone who belives differently.

Uh, you and your ilk by trying to get laws passed that are based on Christian teachings and morals, when those of us who are NOT Christian may completely disagree with them. We have no issue with you living your life in your way, we simply do not want you and the radical religious right trying to force US to live your way, even though we believe differently than you, which is what happens if such laws are passed.
