ZOMBIE DOGS

Postby mofish » Mon Jun 27, 2005 6:40 pm

US scientists have succeeded in reviving the dogs after three hours of clinical death, paving the way for trials on humans within years.

Pittsburgh's Safar Centre for Resuscitation Research has developed a technique in which subject's veins are drained of blood and filled with an ice-cold salt solution.

The animals are considered scientifically dead, as they stop breathing and have no heartbeat or brain activity.

But three hours later, their blood is replaced and the zombie dogs are brought back to life with an electric shock.

So what happens when they do this to humans and they don't go to heaven?

hmm good point map..
however I can see applications for this in foresic science. little betty is found raped and strangled...a few jolts from the chair and poof! Betty coughs up a name, number, and description.

Still Im not sure if this is the type of science, man needs to get into. How much cognitive brain function is left after creating a zombie like this? is it actual life or is Fluffy the wonder kitty similar to the thing that the ground puked out during Pet Cemetary?

Tests show they are perfectly normal, with no brain damage.

All of the human's heart function's and brain functions will be shut off because the only reason brain damage occurs is because their is not enough blood getting to it but if it is in suspended animation it wont matter because they will not need to be in use. I think they are just using zombie for dramatics but it is just another part of medical science and it is amazing how fast they are achieving things in this period of time.

This process can't be used on murdered people from what I gather from the reading. It seems that a living dog is put to sleep via this blood to ice cold saline water transfusion. At THAT point, the animal is dead and the core body temp is near freezing. So basically, you create an instance frozen dogcical. Then they reverse it with a shock and I'm guessing heat to raise the core temp.

It's basically used for ppl that had severe blood loss ...... so im wondering if someone got their neck slit and pretty much died would this work?

My guess is only if you could induce the "suspended animation" before damage to the brain and organs starts as a result of the blood loss.

Yes it would only be useful before the person actually died. If they were found dead, they could not revive the person, say if they were murdered and dead for a week.

This could be HUGE in conjunction with cancer. Freeze the body in extreme cases.

This topic freaks me out.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

kind of like saving the body for later? Isn't that called cryogenics or something?

Cryogenics is the study and use of low temperature phenomena.

Cryonics is specifically freezing bodies in hopes that they will be revived through new technologies not yet discovered.

Cryogenics is mostly used atm for tempering weapons to increase their accuracy and durability.

Close. Cryogenics is used all over in industry. The process is similiar to heat treating, but in the opposite direction. It relieves internal stress in ferrous materials, changes their crystalline structure. Gun barrels for instance, when cryogenically treated, produce more accurate and consistant sine wave vibrations when fired as opposed to normal heat treated barrels. Which means more consistant groups down range. Carbide cutting tools last 30 to 80% longer before breaking down when they've been cryogenically treated. Reduced internal stress without loss of hardness means leaps and bounds in durability. It breaks the old thought that if something is hard, it's brittle. Cryogenics allows you to have something thats hard and tough.
