Just going into Walmart to pick up a few items makes me feel dirty. I get so mad that I can't even stroll around and look at stuff without hearing someone on the damn overhead paging system whining about a call on line 2 or so-and-so call 123.. I swear, every 10 seconds.

Target is so nice because there's no radio and *everyone * has a walkie talkie so not to disturb the guests.

This guy earned a Silver Star in the army, Give mass sums to charity, and took care of his family. Go check out what he did with the Childrens Scholarship fund.

He was also considered to be the 'black hand' of the Walton dynasty. The primary reason why Wal-Mart became the satanic, bottom-line over business ethics, screw over the little man / roll over the small community, despicable corporation that they evolved into.

Wal-Mart's net grew at nearly exponential rates after Walton Sr. died. Their 'made-in the US' numbers also dropped by over 20%. The 'family' producers have all but left Wal-Mart's shelves - something Sam Sr. described as critical to both the success of HIS company, and to preserve a self-sustaining economy. The close-friendship 40-years-old family-owned-AMERICAN-business relationships have evaporated, and I (along with many industry insiders) place almost FULL blame on this dead mother-fucker. His bitch sister is responsible as well, but she takes a backseat in my book.

Hitler was an avid environmentalist. I wouldn't mark that on his grave.

Yes, because being a RUTHLESS business man equates one with Hitler.

You countered his ruthlessness by mentioning philanthropy.

Would it be more appropriate if I said, "Kenneth Lay was an avid SPCA sponsor?"

He is defined by his silver star, mass charity works, and his commitment to Family.

His Wal Mart board actions which are on par with the average US executive board member, of which he only started working at in 1990, do not.

Equating a successful legal executive who does things you do not like with Adolf is a tad over the top, IMHO.

Why? If I don't like him, I can compare him to anyone from Satan to Mindia. You may agree with his tactics, in which case Hitler is 'over the top'. Would you tell an Enron '30-years of tenure' copyroom worker that likening Lay to Hitler is over the top, after Lay's corrupt and apparently 'legal' tactics robbed him of his whole retirement package? Lay didn't fuck me over, so maybe he's only on par with Vlad the Impaler. To that copyroom worker, he's Stalin and Hitler's freak illegitimate offspring... with a sprinkle of Dahmer in for good measure?

"Over the top" is relative. T-shirt-hell had a shirt that read, "What about all the good things Hitler did?" Exactly. I won't remember Hitler for his donating the proceeds of Mein Kampf to charity. I won't remember Walton for his silver star.

Sure, you can compare to anyone you want, but some comparisons are a bit silly.

Hitler is the standard of evil. Lay is a convicted criminal.

I don't like what Wal Mart has become, Vonk, any more than you day. However the simple truth is he's a cog in the wheel and does what most CEOs do.

I don't think he's a 'great' man, I don't put him in the same category as Sam, but he's the average American Executive in a nutshell. Again he didn't make Wal Mart what it is today, from what I see.

John Walton is just another American Executive pursuing the bottom line. However, he is a war hero and seemed a good man based on what he did do outside of his 'business' life, which again was on par with other businesses.

I think you were being sarcastic. I don't think I'm God-like, nor have I ever even come close to hinting that I thought that way. Just because I sing better than Seal (:teehee:) and have better taste in music than most people in here, and I think my religion is closest to what God intended doesn't mean I think I'm Godly.

That was the #1 reason we WERE told we WERE suppose to like him. No other reason was ever given, with the possible exception of "he's not Bush" reason.
