My workout!

Post by KaiineTN »

Yes, DDR. Typically 45 minutes a day, every day. I'm not sure on my heart rate during this, but it's enough of a workout to consistently have my chest, back, pretty much everything, covered in sweat and dripping after 15-20 minutes (not gay). Occasionally I do free weights, hindu pushups and work the abs. (usually a couple times a week when I feel like it, no set pattern)

I've been at this for about two weeks now, and weigh in at 194.5 (from a fluctuating weight of 198ish - 202ish). I want to use this thread as a means to keep track of myself and show you guys that DDR works quite well. Plus, having this thread here gives me a little more motivation to do it each day.

My goal is to get down to 180 asap, and see what my build and body fat looks like then.

So...

6/30 - 194.5
7/7 - 194.0 (zzz)
7/14 - 190.0
7/21 - 191.0
7/28 - 188.0
8/4 - 188.0
8/11 - 187.0
8/18 - 187.0
8/25 - 187.0
9/1 - 185.5
9/8 - 187.0
9/15 -
9/22 -
9/29 -

Cool.. I'll post my workouts with you in this thread Kaine =) I'm trying to get some more consistency back. I still weigh more than you too but not for long =P

6/30/05
Today I did 55 minutes of spinning this morning at the gym. I had the spin studio all to myself and cranked up the tunes. After I was done I did a little bit of abs and some stretching. Plan for tomorrow is to do 20 min of HIIT Cardio and 30 minutes of full body resistance training. I'm trying to get brave enough to also start swimming but I'm just too self conscious about being in a bathing suit in public :(
I dunno.. maybe I'll go try to find a new suit this weekend and give it a shot. I'll hit Target after work.

Don't let your fear of public opinion stop you from doing something you want to. You'll likely never see those people again and if you do they'll be impressed with your progress. :)
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

I PM'ed you back. I know.. I know. I will go this weekend. I promise. Dana can report back to you guys that I went. I've got to get over the bathing suit phobia. Silly for me to wait until next year or the end of the summer to go to a public pool.

I used to have the self concious(omg sp?) swim suit thing. Then I turned into a mom, my body went to hell and back, but I dont care. I am swimming with my girl, not those other people that might comment on the stretch marks on my boobs or my big thighs.

Screw em, Stacy. Swim to better yourself. If I had the funds to join a gym, I'd swim everyday.

Im really interested in this too Kaiine. Ive never played DDR, but I usually abhor exercise, and I need it. That DDR pad of yours looks like a great way to burn some calories without it 'feeling' like exercise. Good luck and Ill probably do the same thing, gay or not.

Metabolism and physical activity (skateboarding etc) used to be all I needed, I was thin as a rail. Now Im a bit older and exercising is in order. Ive just never had to do it before so I suck at motivating myself.

This might sound funny but Im also thinkin about devising some treadmill-standing-computer-desk type thing, and learning how to walk slowly while I use the comp instead of sitting on my butt.

I've seen that done, Mo. Unfortunately, I think it was for show, because I seriously doubt the treadmill was used. But It can be rigged, the guy kept his keyboard and a trackball on the bars where the heart monitor and controls are, and had a shelf in front where his monitor was.
Was the craziest thing I saw when I saw it. He was seriously an EQ addict.

Hmm, sounds good, gonna give it a shot. The main problem is, Ill want a desk also, with another comp at it. So if I do that, I know the treadmill will collect dust. I guess its all or nothing on that idea.
You were right Tikker. We suck.

They do make a set of pedals with resistance that you can put underneath the desk. You pedal like you are on a recumbent stationary bike while you are working on your computer.

Take a look at this one. It may work for you:

I've lost almost 25 pounds since easter, and I still won't be caught dead in a bathing suit. EVER.

heh... i've lost i don't know how much in the last year and i'm still terrified of going in public in a swimsuit... the self-consciousness takes real effort to get rid of.

You are in a gym. The people there have their own issues as well, and are probably too worried about theirs to even look at you. Plus, a GOOD chunk of those people there were fat before, so they have no room to talk.

Just get out there and swim ladies :)

I did it! I went swimming in our apartment pool on Sat. This morning I did laps in my gym pool and got a good work out in. I stuck with mostly breast stroke. My freestyle is way rusty.

I slacked on the 4th.. unless you call running away from bottle rockets that stay in the ground once you light them to avoid having my ears ring for 10 minutes exercise. Then again, I'm sure those BBQ burgers put on more than that took off ;p

Other than that I'm on track, my weight varies a lot depending on how much I drink etc, when I report weight, I'll go by the lowest weight I had during the previous week.

How many times can I say it?

Weight is not what you should be watching. FAT PERCENTAGE is. Check your body fat twice a month. Forget all about weight, because as you excercise you put on muscle which weighs more than fat.

Unfortunately my scale doesn't measure body fat percentage! ;p So weight will have to do for now! I have no doubt I'm putting on some muscle in my legs from doing this too.
