PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- A man who is believed to have gotten a 10-year-old girl pregnant has been charged with first-degree child rape.

Jeremy Daniel Cockerham, 28, of east Bremerton, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Kitsap County Superior Court and remained in jail with bail set at $250,000. His trial was set for mid-August.

Police said Cockerham knew the girl, but the nature of their relationship was not given.

According to documents filed by prosecutors in court, police were alerted in March by state Child Protective Services workers who learned that the girl was pregnant. She initially told detectives she was impregnated by a 10-year-old boy, but police Sgt. Kevin Crane says investigators never believed that account.

Last month the girl gave birth, and DNA tests from a laboratory in North Carolina indicated with a 99.99 percent probability Cockerham is the father and ruled out the boy, who also was tested, police said. Further DNA tests at a state crime laboratory are pending.

The girl, now 11, is living with the baby boy and her mother.

FYI Cockerham is her stepfather. I heard about this on the news, it happend just up the freeway from me. Fucked up guy.

Apparently the mother of the child who is married to Cockerham knew about it as well. Protective services are now looking into it also.

Im telling you the apocolypse is a couple weeks late.

On a related note, my mother was a nurse and occasionally worked in the Emergency room, she told me a tale of a 19 year old girl who came into the ER hysterical because she was bleeding from her vagina, it seems that this girl (a muslim of middle eastern descent btw) had never had a menstral cycle before because she had always been pregnant since the time she was able to reproduce. At 19 she already had 11 children. If you do the math on that, she probably started having children somewhere around 10-11..that is just some sick shit.

I'm of the belief 18 is way too fucking young.

A 14 year old back then was very much different than a 14 year old now.

Doesn't matter, it's statutory rape nation wide. Youngest age of consent anywhere in the US is 14 outside marriage (I found as low as 12 for legal marriages *ewwwwwwwww*). This means quite simply that the state can/will/does fry any creepy ass fuckers that take advantage of impressionable kids to satisfy their sexual tastes regardless of the parent/childs willingness to press charges or testify.
