Is there a way for us to upload our favorite music for others here to listen to?

Like the photo album, but for .wav files, mp3's etc.

Probably not legally as it would lend itself to copyright infringement in, at least, the case of the music MP3s.

If it was a stream and not a download it would be legal. (correct me if I'm wrong)

I think there is a plugin for PHPBB for a "jukebox" and Vonk/Lyion or any admin could easily facilitate a stream for specific MP3's and not be breaking any laws. (again, correct me if I'm wrong)

uploading is also out of the question because of storage/bandwidth issues. images, games, and posts already cost us enough every month, but music files are freakin HUGE in comparison, there's just no way

a jukebox might be another matter

or you can download the shoutcast DSP plugin for winamp and broadcast from your own 'puter and provide a link to it in a sticky'd thread :dunno:

Actually, Vonk had wanted to setup a stream server where people could play their own music, but its a tad bandwidth heavy.

It'd be cool if we could ever do it.

it's REALLY bandwidth intensive to stream music at a listenable bitrate

I've been streaming my home collection to work for almost a year now, and with a 640k upload stream, it still almost takes the whole pipe

and that's just for a single person listening

Granted the method I'm using is probably really inefficient, it doesn't change that it's a bandwidth hog even when done efficiently

One way to kind of do what you're talking about kizzy is the yahoo music stations

you stick all your music preferences into it, then you can let people listen to "your station"

it's kinda neat

I setup a Gmail account that people can use to upload mp3s and shit to.
