Ray Lewis is very over rated, he shouldn't of started the pro-ball last year. I think it was Godfrey? or some MLB for the Chargers who had more ints, and tackles than him, and i dont think he even made the team..dont quote me I could be wrong

Ray Lewis, horribly overrated. He's not even the best defensive player on his own team these days.

Brady finished 6th in the league in TD's last year.

He also finished 1st in the league in TD's two years ago.

So unless you're in a 5 team league, he's an extremely viable starting QB.

Yup. If they ever find a way to score pocket presence and decision making, he'd be a great fantasy quarterback too. I'm sure these thoughts keep him up nights, unassuaged by a mere three Superbowl rings. If I was starting a franchise from scratch, he'd be one of the top quarterbacks on my wishlist.

The only QB i would take over him to start a franchise would be Manning. Even then thats a tough choice between the two.

Culpepper's been pretty spectacular too. His 2004 season would have been universally hailed, had Manning not gone absolutely apeshit.

Very true Xao. But I would still pick brady over culpepper (not knocking Culpepper), Brady just has the intangibles that very few quarterbacks have. He reminds me alot of Joe Montana.

Ahhh, but you've changed the nature of your claim here. Touchdowns do not equate to touchdown passes. Brees had more touchdowns than Brady last season, and Plummer tied him.

Two years ago is, by definition, the year before last year, which would be the 2003-2004 season, not the 2002-2003 season, where Brady didn't make the top ten in touchdowns.

Your initial assertions were incorrect. Furthermore, scoring does not come from touchdowns alone, and there's been a very significant change in New England's offensive philosophy since the '02 season. Brady is a decidedly mediocre fantasy quarterback, despite what rabid New England fans would have you believe. It's always nice to see homers in my fantasy league though!

Touchdowns alone do not make a good fantasy QB, unless the difference is ridiculous (Manning, Culpepper, '04). The fact that Brady moves down a single slot in Touchdowns ranking because of a Rush TD doesn't discount Brady's TD/INT ratio, 60+% completions, and 3600+ yards the last three seasons.

He is certainly not a "decidely mediocre" fantasy quarterback. He is a Top 10 Fantasy QB, despite whether or not you believe it.

You mention New England's changing offense, and yet last year he put up almost 4,000 yards, 28 TD's and 14 INT's -- which would put him around 6th in fantasy value last year depending on what your league's scoring is.

Perhaps 6th, or 7th is "decidely mediocre" ? That's not the conventional definition in terms of fantasy football. Decidely mediocre seems to be well below average. I've stated facts that not only prove otherwise, but mark Brady as above the curve for fantasy QB's.

In a league with more than five teams who have taken the top five QB's, getting the 6th or 7th best fantasy QB seems like the correct course of action.

I wouldn't take Culpepper over Brady anymore now that Scout Linehan has left for Miami and Randy Moss has been traded. Culpepper will still be good this year, but won't put up the numbers that Brady will.

You seem to be confused as to the definition of "mediocre". It means "of moderate or low quality", and Brady is definitely in that range in fantasy football. Let's not merely speculate though, let's calculate. After all, we have their numbers for last season. Consider the following scoring system for a quarterback: 6 points per TD, -2 points per pick, 1 point per 25 yards passing, 1 point per 10 yards rushing, -2 points per lost fumble.

Manning: 457
Culpepper: 446
McNabb: 363
Bulger: 335
Green: 317
Delhomme: 310
Plummer: 309
Brees: 292
Brady: 287
Brooks: 285

Brady is, assuming I didn't miss anyone above him, 9th in fantasy points. In anything short of a twenty team league, this is indeed, decidedly mediocre. In a more standard ten to twelve team league, Brady would be a subpar fantasy quarterback.

This is why I love playing fantasy football against rabid fans!

Your mock scoring list follows exactly what I described. You used 1 point per 25yd passing, 1 point per 10yd rushing which favors yards. In other leagues where the scoring is 1 point per 50yds passing, or 1 point per 20 yards rushing (or more), more efficient QB's like Brady are rated higher.

Brady's consistency puts him over players like Plummer, and Delhomme, who just lost his #1 target.
