DROP THAT ZERO AND GET THYSELF A HERO!!

You can judge a man by the music he listens to, and if his music sucks ass - SO DOES HE!!

You can do better than a slackjawed hillbilly redneck who has a fetish for guns, listens to Rush Limbaugh, and plots to overthrow the government.

Honest answer...

I'm was in the same situation you are only I'm a guy and my g/f (at the time) loved and still does love country music... Hell we even got married. She listens to it on her own time, and I'll listen in small doses (or even watch CMT if the woman singing is hot j/k, I wouldn't watch CMT if you paid me) :P

Anyway, if he will listen to nothing but country, watches CMT all day, and takes part in every rodeo in the tri-county area. I would suggest getting out fast, before you have a sheep/goat costume thrown on you bending you over for the rest of your life. Also look for velcro chaps in his closet.... yet another no-no.

Really, he has to like other music that you can tolerate, if not just say no, as in "Turn that shit off if you think you'll ever get any" or something along those lines. If everything else about him works, you can work around music, as long as he doesn't play it all the time, it should work out.

Sorry, couldnt resist. Music isnt a big deal, unless you are doing a lot of outdoor concerts or he's a musician.

Honestly, there are many serious glaring flaws to worry about. Musical tastes are inconsequential. (For an example, my SO likes Vengaboys and other cheese dance acts which rank well below Country.)

Although worrying about a persons music taste might on the surface seem minor to many of the other things you might consider, don't be so quick to dismiss it. Most people like music that they do because they identify with it in some way or another, knowing someones music taste can usually tell you quite a bit about them.

Really though, if it's a case of you feel that he is perfect in every way shape and form, but are questioning further involment based on your ability to either tolerate or work something out where his choice of music is concerned I'd be looking at a few things besides his prefered choice of music.

Why is it an issue right now? Unless your looking at moving in together (which appears way to quick considering the question), just dating and what not either let him know your not into his music or try and enjoy it with him not when your not around him.

Are you having or wanting to change your likes or dislikes to make yourself more attractive (in the compatibility sense) to him? Thats a dangerous road, and really starting off on the wrong foot, trying to be something your not in my opinion.

Honestly, just relax about it, let him know country music is not something you really enjoy. If your willing to try something new sort of speak then let him introduce you to some of his favorites... but be honest. If your not interested then say so and see how well you both manage to deal with it.

I dunno I guess I see dealing with each others music taste and something menial and not a deal breaker... but then again my own taste in music varies widely and there isn't to much I absolutely can't stand... and thats generally limited to specific songs, so I tend to see your concern here as superficial.

Countrie's DJ's know I'm an outlaw,
they'll never come to see me in this dive,
Where bikers stare at cowboy's,
who are laughin' at the hippies
who are prayin' they'll get outta here alive

I would not be with anyone that didn't share my interests in music. There are lots of country girls I'd probably fuck but not too many I could stand being around afterwards.

Out of curiosity, what sort of musical tastes were you expecting to encounter at a pig roast?

Pig roasts that I went to featured a lot of loud rock music and alcohol.

wtf is a pig roast. Being from THE redneck state, I should have been to one, or at least know they existed. Is it someone roasting a pig on a spit? That's gross.

You can rent big barbeques to cook it or some do it the Hawaiian way and dig a pit and put coals in and cover it over with fragrant branches. It generally takes a day or so to cook it that way.

That is pretty much the idea I believe.

It is an excuse to get drunk with your friends outside someplace in essence.
