Actually the problem is the best teachers are no longer teaching becasue they couldn't afford to live. They moved on to different professions becaseu you can make more money working for a fast food join then as a teacher.

If doesn't matter if you find teach a job or a passion. If they dont pay enough for you to actually live on, you are not going to do it.

If you pay more for the job, you will attract more very good teachers back to the professions as well as new teachers. Right now you really need to be insane to go into the teaching field out of college. The people who actually are going into the teaching field are going into specialty areas or are teaching in private schools where they may not pay more but the extras usually make up for it.

Paying teachers more will not fix the system, but its a necessary change for the system to get beter.

Harrison my statement to giving them raises of 300% would alos including getting rid of the fat of teaching the crappy teachers that suck would be gone I would expect a COMPLETE change of the system I would expect every teacher to have gone through a specialized doctorate program focused on one thing, how to fucking teach and how to reach children. I would put 1 teacher to every 10 students , I Would require 1 hour a week from every parent in the class room, or in after school activities with the children. YA I wold give every teacher a 300% raise, I would also have much higher expectations. I would makeit a 6 figure income - and give more bennefits to teachers i would also make it 1000% times harder to become a teacher. For the most part putting in your time in my ideal enviroment if you started on it after highschool - you would teach on your own somewhere in your early to mid 30s after a 8 year program and a 4 year intern/residence program.

Next would be schools - they need a complete over haul - new learning enviroments in door out door, very interactive something other than fucking sitting for 6 hours strait staring at some guy who has a bad wig and a bad tie try and explain how we won the civil war.

btw I would front the cost of the entire learning program to be paid back 5 years after you started teaching - with no interest. (hence the taxing of marijuana and twinkies)

Schools and parents have been failing our children far too long it needs to stop. The entire system is horrid from top to bottom. It needs to stop pushing children through and considering standard testing as the end all be all.

The 300% raise was a farce comment - honestly you are 100% correct i was eluding to it but I didnt go into depth of it. My entire point is education is no where near where it should be in this countries priorities. We are more concerned with a fucking baseball player that cant speak a lick of english who used steriods in baltimore than the 90 million dollars baltimore is in debt because of our shitty ass Mayor O'Mally that has brought in outside sources to help the system bloating an already inflatted school system with middle managment forcing yet again to cut pretty much anything but math and reading from schools... and he continues to get away with it in this assbackward state becaue he has a fucking D by his name.

/end rant on schools.

If we're talking about inner-city teachers then I could possibly agree. Any other teachers are getting paid plenty of money otherwise. There seems to be MANY MANY misconceptions about our educational system. Most of it comes from people who don't really know whats going on and just make lots of assumptions. My mom has been teaching for 30 years now so I have a pretty good idea of what the major problems are with our system...i had to hear about it all the time.

I would institute programs to help the poor and people who were just born into shitty situations.... but its a limited time frame deal and if you aren't productive after the program has finished, you get put into chain gangs to pay the government back for wasting resources on you.... and everything mop said as well. Also I would definatly elimate welfare for both individuals and corporations. You can join the government sponsered program, which will give you shelter, food, and an education, and if you don't join, maybe I will just shoot you. Who needs people who make so little they don't pay taxes anyway?
