WTF is WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!
Looting broke out in Biloxi and in New Orleans, in some cases in full view of police and National Guardsmen. On New Orleans' Canal Street, the main thoroughfare in the central business district, looters sloshed through hip-deep water and ripped open the steel gates on the front of several clothing and jewelry stores.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

A cop tried to arrest a looter, another looter shot him in the back of the head. Expected to recover though. And they caught the looters. A little good news at least.
Wal-Mart announced free giveaway of essentials. Bad move. Full on looting of the store. Even a couple of cops caught on camera looting. Yay.
Sketchy reports of hostages and prison takeover by inmates at orleans parish prison. Prison guard brought his wife and children there to ride out the storm. Now all hostages, even the kids.
Friend of mine in Alexandria (middle/north louisiana) said the roads up there were clogged with military vehicles heading south. All the horseshit ends tomorrow. Either by national guard, or by water. Levee breach repair FAILED, mayor says city will have 10-15 feet of water in it by tomorrow. Corps of Engineers working on it through the night, we will see.
Scary how fast civilization dissolves.

Well, a huge GRATZ goes out to all the stupid looters in NO. They've gotten so bad that all recovery efforts are cancelled until they are under control. The death toll is about to get even higher cuz of these morons.

Yeah heard 1500 NOPD taken off rescue to deal with looting. So now people might die because of them. The good news is Martial Law finally declared (what the fuck was the holdup in the first place). Now looters can be shot on site. All civil rights and miranda rights suspended.
You were right Tikker. We suck.
lol hang jewelry.
Here is a post from a board full of new orleans natives I frequent. Not supported, just anecdotal, so take it for what its worth :
"My bro-in-law who works as an electrician for the convention center called me tonight from Baton Rouge. He left this afternoon after he told me that he truly feared for his life as the convention center was being taken over by looter/thugs with assult weapons walking around, breaking into all of the kitchens as well as othert hings at the center. He was there to work through the storm. Today he told his bosss he did what he was there to do, see the center throguh the storm but not lose his life at it now because of the current situation. He said that it is totally out of control. He also said that the NOPD and NOFD have been looting as much as others. Reports of Police going into Walmart cleaning out the meat dept then using billy clubs to break glass on jewelry counters to steal all of he jewelry. He said the city is totally out of control! Glad he is out!! Truly Sickening!!"
convention center is a huge structure in new orleans, exactly what it sounds like, a convention center. Many shops and restaurants adjacent to it and in it.

BUSH VIEWS DAMAGE FROM AIR FORCE ONE
Wed Aug 31 2005 16:36:21 ET
Aboard Air Force One
Before the news, a short programming note: POTUS will appear in the Rose Garden to make a statement at 5 p.m. following the hurricane meeting but does not plan to take questions.
Now the news: POTUS got an intense, personal view this morning of the extraordinary arc of devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina as Air Force One dipped out of the clouds and flew low over Gulf Coast states where whole neighborhoods and communities were wiped out and the city of New Orleans remained a virtual lake.
Air Force Col. Mark Tillman, the chief pilot of Air Force One, routed the Waco-to-Andrews flight along the southern edge of the United States to give POTUS a bird’s eye view but at points he and his crew brought the plane so low that it was barely above the skyscrapers of New Orleans. POTUS moved over to the left side of the plane where his Secret Service detail normally sits and watched intently out the window during the 35-minute flyover. His tour took him over New Orleans and then along the coast over Slidell, Waveland, Pass Christian, Gulfport, Biloxi and Pascagoula, before the plane climbed back to normal altitude, veered north and headed toward Washington.
“It’s devastating,” POTUS said as he watched, according to Scott McClellan. “It’s got to be doubly devastating on the ground.” McClellan said POTUS remained quiet through most of the flyover, pointing out various signs of destruction along with Karl Rove, J.D. Crouch and one of the pilots. “There wasn’t a whole lot of conversation going on,” McClellan said. “I think it’s very sobering to see from the air. And I think at some points you’re just kind of shaking your head in disbelief to see the destruction that has been done by the hurricane.”
Hahah.

And then I would expect Ray Nagin to give me the scuba tank to the city...
I'd hang jewelry in my yard.
Then shoot everyone who went near it from my roof.
And then I would expect Ray Nagin to give me the scuba tank to the city...
