For fucks sake. Reports on XM radio saying that some of the residents of the French Quarter, who's neighborhoods are relatively intact have been patrolling their properties to keep the looters at bay. The police and guard are uninterested in doing this because there are more pressing issues at hand in harder hit sections. However when they do roll through, they're confiscating these peoples weapons and leaving them completely defenseless.

If you're in the affected area and defending your property, keep your weapons behind closed doors I guess. Otherwise you're likely to lose them.
