Looking to buy a good Everquest PC

Postby Yamori » Mon Sep 05, 2005 4:44 pm

I'm looking to buy a PC to play a 2nd Everquest account on. I need one that will run the game smoothly and load up/zone at a reasonable rate - and one that allows you to run around / act quickly in game without terrible lag and freezing up.

I just need the box with preinstalled windows xp. Anyone have any suggestions on what specifically to look for, and where to find it at a low price? :P

Seeing as this is, in some vague way, still an EQ bored I thought it might be good to ask here in case anyone else had bought a PC specifically for low cost but effective EQ performance.

But honestly, most of the time when getting systems for the stores I worked for, I just went to RefurbDepot.com and found a suitable system for as cheap as I could.

For the most part, any system you can buy in a store can play EQ well. The only thing you need to watchis for the video card, though you can get a chaep one and just install it yourself.

The box running as my server now played it well. Athlon 1400, 512Ram GeForce 5500. You would probably have a difficult time find a box with a slower processor in it, the ram and video card are cheap if the box doesn't have the equivalent or beter already.

If you are determined to actually buy a computer whole, your going to pay more for it. For what your looking for its beter to build but time consuming.

May be able to goto your local computer store and pick up an eMachine that will be more then enough for what your looking to do.
