WTF

Is the line of BS from FEMA really that the govener/mayor ect... didn't ask for help so the Feds didn't think they needed any.

By Monday Night all you needed was basic cable to know that people were in deep dog shit in New Orleans. The Feds really saw all that on TV and said well we could send aid but won't because they haven't asked on the right form yet? What a fucking cop out. I don't care what the local goverment was doing at that point the Feds should have steam rolled them with aid trucks if the were able. To me seeing the problems that were going on and not sending aid you had worse than seeing it and not getting it there because they couldn't.

None of this excuses the lack of local leadership but give me a break if the feds were able to help and didn't they deserve to be taken out and shot.

There are LAWS...you know those things you can get sent to jail for.....that require that the governor ask for help before the feds can step in and take over. If Bush had just unilaterally jumped in y'all would be screaming for his impeachment now.

There's basically nothing Bush could have done that wouldn't have earned him criticism... it's the way of the left and the media that worships it.

They'll find some way to spin ANYTHING into negative publicity... Bush could donate his kidney to a poor dieing black woman... and the liberals would be screaming that he was out of office on "vacation" while he was recovering.

You can't win when 95% of the media is against you... thankfully, I'm glad to see that in most cases Bush just ignores the nay-sayers completely. I can respect him for that, at least.

The Governor declared a state of emergency on August 26th. The feds fucked up REALLY bad. In catastrophic situations such as this, the number one priority is to save lives and the feds are to overstep any local or state authority in order to do that. All the conservative dodging and weaving cannot change the fact that they sat on their hands and did nothing while US citizens needed them.

That is 100% bullshit. If it had been a Dem in office the republicans would be screaming. Its all polotics, in polotics your party seems to come first, the people of the country somewhere way down the list. If it wont get you votes later, you dont want to hear about it.

If you cant win when 95% of the media is against you, how exactly did GWB win the election twice? Why isnt there more coverage on the complete fucking idiocy of this administration? Or the corruption, or any of it? Must be because of this goddamn liberal media. Must be it.

The "liberal media" is yet just another myth the conservatives came up with so they at least have SOMETHING to complain about. Doesnt matter that theyre in control of just about every aspect of this country, they still gotta complain about something.

Also, if you believe that the media isn't liberally biased, even after their own admission of the fact, you're a bigger fool than I originally believed you to be.

The reason Bush beat Kerry is very simple: Kerry wasn't even worth supporting by the liberal press. They tried... but there was no substance to the man to support. Kerry lost because Kerry was about the WORST person they could have put against Bush. Bush was an easy target to beat - it's pretty damn sad that the Democrats failed to oust him - but it was due to their own ineptitude.

Most of us are fine with valid criticsm. It's the blind partisan vitriolic hatred spewn without valid facts or relevance that annoys us.

Its hard to rationally discuss things with the far left wingers here when they could care less about truth or facts, and yet get pissed that we do not accept the blatant lies and propaganda they post.

Do you even read the simple facts of stories before you start attacking and being nasty to W?

New Orleans is a perfect example of that. There were hiccups, but most of the far left people here have no clue or simply do not care about the facts.

Tuggan - you hardly tried to "keep it relatively civil". Regardless, yes, Fox is 5% of the overall news media. Newspapers, periodicals, internet... broadcast TV isn't even the primary source for news information any longer. I stand by my 5% until you can show me how they've somehow cornered the market on the news providing services over at Fox.

No one is denying that she screwed up, she should be removed from office and face many criminal charges. What is pissing people off you you basicly had the federal government sitting there say we could save many of your lives but our hands are tied sorry. Die well.

As soon as it was seen that she really had no idea what she was doing and that her actions were killing people, the fed govt should have more or less said fuck it, and gone in to save peoples lives. They sat there and watch people die that they could have saved.

Whats crazy is the people howling the hardest about the Patriot Act, the things the Feds are not allowed to do, and individual and state rights are the ones claiming the government should be allowed to ignore these things if they deem it proper.

The Federal government sent active duty troops in, which was dodgy. They sent the coast guard in immediately. The SAR teams flew immediately afterwards. Because of this response the death toll will be much, much lower than it could be, which is good news.

FEMAs response time is always 72 to 96 hours. It is a bureaucracy. Congress reorged it into DHS and it has been a check issuer, not a military unit as some mistakenly think.

There were problems at all levels, but unline in NY where the firefighters plunged into a building knowing they were going to die, the police and fire in New Orleans completely disintegrated.

The simple truth is we were not ready for this hurricane, which was devastating to New Orleans.

Stories like this are going to come out to even further clarify what went wrong

anything run by the government is going to be slow, poorly plan, horribly executed and basically Fucked Up Beyond All Repair; I know, I worked for these dumbshits for 7 years.

In all honesty, the people in the government in charge of this Lousiana fiasco were probably more concerned about how they could weasel more funding for their next fiscal year than they were about how to actually help the people affected by the hurricane.

Dems and reps are always going to be this way IMO.... I suggest next election everyone vote libratarian so that we can outsouce every government function to private companies who get things done fast, cheap and effectively.
