Anyone heard of the ZONE diet?

Here's the dizzle...

I'm a pretty busy guy these days with my business...

I'm finding it VERY hard to prepare my own meals anymore and am eating out a LOT.... and I have to say it really is starting to suck.

In my opinion there is no such thing as a healthy restaurant in this country. Almost everything is prepared, greasy, fatty or lacking in real nutrition. I say this and include the little section of every menu that has the low-carb, low-whatever section of foods... These foods may be low in fat, but they are also low in nutrition IMO. I told my roomate today that if you are going to go out to eat, go eat there because you like the taste/atmosphere etc, but don't go out to eat for your health... It just isn't going to happen.

Basically I want to stop eating out, yet really don't have the time to stock groceries and play chef and then maid to clean that shit up. Slangin computers and crack rock is become a full time activity.

My solution I am thinking is this:

It is a company that will deliver all my meals during the work week and tailor them to my lifestyle using the "ZONE" diet as a format.

I have never heard of this ZONE diet and it sounds a little like some sort of space-age voodoo witchcraft if you ask me, but I need some opinions...

Take a look at that webpage and tell me what you think if you have ever tried the ZONE diet...

I want to get back to eating lots of organic produce/veggies, lean preferably open range meats and whole unprocessed grains. I used to eat that way as a teen and want to get back to a very strict healthy diet for the long run of the rest of my life.

For now, being busy this delivery food service sounds like the way to go.

wow that's expensive

If you can afford that.. I've seen the zone diet work for a couple people, but I've never tried it personally as from what I've heard it's VERY strict with eating times etc, and I'm just not consistent enough for that. Other than expense and timeframe, if you're ok with both of those I don't see why it wouldn't be ok

It's really not that expensive... I plan on getting it for lunch, snack and dinner only 5 days a week. Chances are it will be about 125 a week or 500 a month.

If I take my gas, eating out costs during the week, time spent buying groceries, transporting them, cooking and cleaning it is a lot more costly IMO.

Hopefully more people will comment... If I am going to spend the dough I want to make sure it's worth my time.

He doesnt want the work that goes along with preparing, other than throwing away the plastic from his trays.

I *think* Crielle was on the Zone diet. She might be good to ask if it worked.
I had a couple Lunchable-type meals that were made by The Zone people. They were really quite good.

I studied up and followed the basic premise of the Zone Diet starting about 2 years ago. I think it's a great idea, and based in actual nutrition information, not some fad diet shit. Not to mention, you feel full because it's full of protein and healthy fats. I recommend it.

My favorite little meal was:

pita
lots of grilled chicken pieces
bacon bits
cheese
ranch dressing

Heat and roll it up. GREAT~
Oh and it came with a jello cup, but I hate jello.

Have a couple of friends that are religious zone dieters. Seems to work well, not an ounce of excess fat on either of them. As a matter of fact they could stand to gain a few pounds.

Ralph they are great I know a couple ppl that have used them in thepast and they are fucking awesome... food always good and reliable.

Excellent! Just what I wanted to hear. My major concern was that I would be getting a bunch of preheated TV dinners or basically food that has been preprocessed, ie: shitty. Hopefully it's all fresh which I think it will be.

the place I heard abgout was great fresh food every single day
