    Naaa one little coffee shop, kind of a mom and pop version of CC's (All the CC's I know of are in the city and nothing is open there, hi Rita) but I was able to walk the little girl behind the counter into making what I craved.

    Rain is freakin pouring right now, about 45-50MPH winds, nothing to get worried about weather-wise til the bitch gets past us and sucks the whole goddamned Gulf of Mexico up the Mississippi River. 9th Ward is flooding again atm, no big loss there, just a 'y'at or two and a couple of ghetto denizens, fortunately most of the folks got out this time.

    I am allergic to coffee. Makes me seriously projectile vomit if I have any. Once, years ago, had a bowl of ice cream at a friend's place that turned out to be Mud Pie ice cream, which uses Mocha ice cream as a base. Within about 10 minutes of eating it, I was communing with the porcelain god for the next hour or so. Even the smell of coffee can make me nauseous, so I can't even really go inside most coffee shops.

    Chai is the yum tho, depending on who makes it. Had Starbucks Chai before, and it was just plain flat-out awful. Tasted like someone had mixed half skim milk with half water and dumped a tablespoon of pepper into it and mixed. Ugh. I'll often get the Oregon Chai company concentrate boxes and use that to mix with milk to make good stuff at home.

    beef is probably my least favorite meat ;\

    in fact aside from shredded beef in burritos and family cookouts i hardly ever eat it anymore. i prefer turkey, chicken, or fish over beef 9 times out of 10-- plus they're all healthier for you than beef!

    All of you "organic" folks should really look into venison. Nothing more organic than wild game. Anyway, here's some tips:

    Venison burger is worthless by itself. It's dry, gamy tasting, and won't form patties very well. Many people mix 50/50 with ground beef, but the real ticket is to mix 60/40 with ground pork. Not pork fat, but lean ground pork. They'll be the best burgers you ever have I gar own tee.

    Venison roasts are probably my favorite. Backstraps or loin roasts, 6 to 8 hours in a slow cooker with onions, mushrooms (mmm shitake), lawry's salt, and just enough standing water in the bottom to cover the bottom of the cooker. It'll fall apart on your fork.

    Canned venison is also an extremely good eat. To properly can venison, you need a pressure cooker and wide mouth pint jars. Don't use quart jars, it won't turn out as well. Prepare your cans as normal (boil clean etc) and pack cutlets of meat into the jars about half full. You don't want to go much higher than that, as a lot of the natural juices will boil out of the jar in process if you do. Add salt and pepper, and onion if desired. Don't get too heavy with the pepper, because being canned in with the meat really excentuates it's taste. Bring the cooker to a boil, and place your covered jars in. Seal the cooker, and cook at 15 lbs for 45-60 minutes. Remove the jars and retaining rings and allow to cool and seal. Yield result is an easy to store, easy to prepare, awesome to eat meat that can be used in a number of ways. Use the juice and some flour and beef stock to make gravy, and eat over rice or noodles. Add sour cream to the juices and serve over noodles for stroganoff. Use as hot sandwich meat. Possibilities are endless, and the meat is tender and tasteful, with no gamy effects.

    That's weird... I hear a lot of women not liking but beef but most guys seem to love the stuff.

    IMO Beef is the only real meat... Chicken and fish are all like faux-meat only to be eaten when in lack of beef.
