:wtf:

No groups when I play, either. (Agramar server-No PvP for me thanks. The last thing I want is some pimple headed trenchcoat mafia kid ruining the limited time I have online as it is heh!)

between about 15 - 20 for alot of classes it slows down a bit then picks back up at 20ish.

Had that with my priest / rogue / shaman The game never becomes unsoloable especially higher up since (I think) every cclass has a talent line that helps them solo

though my shaman is flying 22 hours lvl 26. Gunna go blow through BFD and SFK quests today and get 30 before BWL tonight~ windfurry inc

make sure to grab any and all quests you can. As far as solo friendly, I am still soloing at 40. With a hunter you just need to make sure when new skills come out for your pet you grab them. With a hunter it is all on your ranged weapon and your pet. I rarely use melee skills. Make sure you concentrate on keeping your rifle or bow fairly close to level.

Every class can solo.

Def warriors are probably the worst soloers but they can still kill evens without a problem.

Actually, hunters are surprisingly weapon-independant. Try picking up a gray weapon and checking your DPS. Attack power, ammo, your pet, and skills provide the vast majority of a hunter's damage.

Weren't you in my guild on EQ Xao?
And on a further note, when you are leveling, weapons don't really make to much of a difference, but when you can upgrade to something like Rhok'Delar it makes a really big difference in your dps.

Rhok'Delar is usually the single biggest upgrade a hunter will get, and even then it tends to be about a 13 to 14 DPS jump. While a great weapon, it comprises what, a quarter of the Hunter's DPS? I'm not saying a hunter shouldn't strive for the best weapons they can get their hands on, I'm just saying they shouldn't break the bank for one the way a warrior or rogue might.

I was in TFS for a bit during my EQ resurrection before the rank stupidity of certain members made it a miserable place to be. It was too bad... there were definitely some good folks there.

That only assumes you're upgrading to epic, from a blue weapon

that being said

the biggest source of dps is how effectively you use your mana (as a hunter)

You're right, and I should have stated that. I do feel it was a reasonable assumption. By the time you're even thinking about questing for epic weapons, most people have at least blue-quality weapons. If you already have an epic rifle or bow, then the upgrade would be even less dramatic.

yeah, I had blastershot before i got Rhok

personally(for raiding), the biggest dps difference for me, was learning how to effectively use my pet, while still being able to spam multishot/arcane/aimed

hehe You are kidding, right? I can never tell unless there's a little smilie~

Seriously though, moving the cap from ~200xp to 400xp per kill and keeping the requirement that mobs be green to me (instead of green to pet's level) is only marginally less hideous than it was before.

As it stands now, rolling a new hunter, catching the pets I want at level, then grinding to 60 with them would take less time than it would for me to grind 49's (eventually moving into the mid-50's to stay at cap as long as possible) petless.

They should just 'Lock it- tame pet, pet dings your level. Loyalty, small stable, and eternal feeding is punishment enough.

Sure. Why not?

Pets are pretty much an easthetic choice at this point, with very few exceptions. Animals of almost every type can already be found w/in 5-10 lvls of 60 with stats that are basically identical. Getting them to 60 would still be time consuming, but it wouldn't take a couple weeks worth of days played to do like if you brought a 20-something up to 60. The only difference is preferred skin. Why punish people further over aesthetics simply because they made it to 60 5 months before petopia went up? It might actually encourage some diversity if leveling a new pet weren't such a chore.

It would be perfectly reasonable if they wait until everything's normalized first, so there'd be no advantage in it (other than saving time for a choice that has zero impact on play balance). Brokentooth and Lupos will be neutered eventually, and then nobody will bother with them except for their skins (which are both widely shared already).

how much grinding you have to do doesn't determine whether or not a game is easy or trivial

well holy shit

I agree with you 100%

the pet system as it is right now, is kind of lame

it's gotten much better since beta, but it's still kind of gay how much work it is just to lvl a pet

at one point, I had grabbed Ursius (only pet in the game afaik that has atk of 2.4) and it took me almost as long to get him from 55-60 as it took me to get from 1-60

I am still confused as to the whole problem with leveling up a pet people seem to be experiencing. I have never had a problem from day 1 keeping pets on equal levels with me. I've had the same pet since about level 30 or so. I've had it stabled a few times to experiment with other pets and have kept them level as well while I had them, but have always kept the kitty as my main and never had an issue getting it leveled to me.

Why does this appear to be such a problem?

the problem is you don't know what people are complaining about =P

try being lvl 60

go tame the Rake

now level him to 60

then come back and say you don't understand
