Do you have super secret infoz on your computer that you have to protect from haxorz?
I use XP and think its just fine. I can do what ever computing task my little heart desires and probably more. I don’t have teh virususes or any spyware... /shrug

Certain things are more suited to a different operating environment
Lots of older PC's that chug with an OS like XP will run pretty well with a CLI Linux distro
I find it easier to do batch type jobs, and simple shell scripting on a unix variant, as opposed to trying to get it to work with windows
it's more just a matter of right tool for the right job
ugh I can't say I envy you. I thought I lost the java programming components of my portfolio at one point, and I said no way in hell am I redoing it. I will just not have it in there. ><
