Does or does the Bible not read "Judge not, lest ye be judged" How can you turn that into "Well that doesn't mean I can't pass judgement on you, because as far as I am concerned, I don't do wrong things"

Please help.

Yes it does say that.

And keeping with Christian law, it flat out says what you think it says. The only way to justify judging others 'as a Christian' is to side-step (ignore) the rule. The Bible is rife with passages that condemn the act of judging others. You can't judge anyone unless you are perfect, and since you are a mortal, you are (by 99% of the Christian beliefs) flawed - a sinner. Therefore, it isn't within your rights to judge anyone. To do so invalidates your status as a 'worthy' Christian. By judging others, you will be judged - even if the 'judging' of another is your only sin. Basically, to judge is to sin, and that sin prevents you from being a capable judge =p. So - judge not, or you'll be judged.

But if all mortals are sinners and judging is a sin, than it's expected that you shall judge. So it's pretty much par for the course for us mortal folk.

Seems like a green light to me you fucking inbred Texan fag.

Apologies if a repost.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

my interpretation is the same as what Vonkaar said.

actually the implication of judge not is about making condemnation about a persons immortal soul (weather or not they or going to hell) not judging them according to the laws of the land

Strong opinions don't equate to definitiveness.

Hitler had some pretty strong opinions on jews and the rest of the world in general... doesn't mean he was correct.

If you have any questions regarding theology, I'd pass them along to Vonkaar. Not only does he seem knowledgeable on the subject, but he doesn't appear to be biased toward any religious/political affiliation. :p

I'd present my own thoughts on the matter being that I studied theology extensively... but alas, I'm dogmaticially loyal to Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec sungod of war. :\

Matthew 7:1

Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

HOLY SMOKES, What does that 1 mean? that there may be more verses behind it?

in context...

1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

So don't go around saying that other people are doing wrong if you yourself are doing wrong. It's not a blanket dismissal of judging. The Bible tells Christians to reprimand each other when we see them doing wrong. Paul gives very clear instructions in one of his letters on how to handle church discipline. Not Judging is not the intent of this passage. It's a warning to those who would condemn others for what they themselves are doing.

Context ftw.
