recommend a good video capture card that's not super $$$$$

There are a few out some work exclusively with XP Media.

I could probably find my old Asus TNT2 Ultra! I paid way too much for that thing... and a year later GeForces came out ><

Get an ATI 9600 All-In-Wonder or whatever low end All-In-Wonder you can find for cheapest. They work fine.
