I can relate to that. Being a consultant myself, I can definitely relate to how hard it is to miss work, and what it's like to come back to it (it's different having external clients who have deadlines promised by your consulting firm than it is to have managers who expect work at a certain time; with external clients you can't have being sick or being in an accident as an excuse). Plus, it's not like you're missing work for a vacation. You're in pain and doped up. Definitely not a "day off".

Hang in there,

I'm not sure you know what fine means, cause my definition doesn't contain pain spasms.

I had to deliver a speech yesterday. The blood from my arms being shreded up by the windshield kinda leaked through. When I took off my jacket I had to practically peel it off. Went to the doctor this morn to ask if there was more I could do but he said to keep it disinfected and bandaged and it'd scab up prolly tonight and eventually heal. Not as sore as I was yesterday. Back still kinda hurts a bit but its gotten better. Found my briefcase! I left it in the elevator at work and someone returned it to me in tact (combination was still in its original place). Bank fixed my error and gave me a gift set with some cheap wine and oyster shit in it. I told them thank you and proceeded to close my account and reopen elsewhere. Talked to the cockbite that hit me. He says he's happy I'm ok. I told him, you won't be. I'll be taking his ass to court when I get back from Hong Kong in 2 weeks.

That's cool you got your breifcase back, and I'm glad the bank handled the mistake so quickly. Lang and I purchased a new couch and chair mid September, and we're *still* trying to sort out some crap that happened between Rhodes Furniture and U-Haul (no lectures on the evils of U-Haul please, we learned them all first hand). But I guess when it's someone's money you made a mistake with, you fix it quick.

Have a safe trip to Hong Kong, and I'm glad to hear that today seems to be better than yesterday.

Ero word to wise man I would start the ball rolling BEFORE going to Hong Kong. Even if it is just getting the accident report to your lawyer. Trust me bro. a 2 week delay can be the difference between full compensation and partial comp.

I'll be keeping in contact with him while I'm on my trip. I've already sent him pictures from the wreck and the guy who hit me already admitted guilt to a police officer.

Not to sound high and mighty or anything, but why do you think because he fucked up his driving that you are owed compensation?

If he really did something wrong to the point of being negligent shouldn't that be a criminal issue? If not, how much damage did he do to you financially? A few hundred bucks and a night at the hospital?

I just don't get the mentality of trying to ruin people financially for accidents.

I'm most likely going to settle this out of court. I can't really say I'm suing him, since he's not objecting to anything. I just want to make sure my car gets paid for by his insurance, my medical bills are paid for by his insurance or by him and that I have a little compensation for pain and suffering. When I say little, I mean what is fair, not like millions for a mcdonalds coffee spill. Yeah, it was an accident and I was mostly venting frustration, but the guy NEARLY KILLED ME. I think I have a right to make some demands.

you do..frankly last time my family decided to be 'nice' and let the insurance handle it it took me 3 years to get compensated for my car

My father tried to be nice and let the insurance handle it when some dumb bitch hit him while he was on him motorcycle...all because she was putting makeup on in the mirror. State Farm tried to pro rate his jeans and his helemet cause after all they are 'used' now

I refuse to be nice because someone is fucking retarded.

My gf was involved a few months ago in an accident in which the other driver died. Completely her (the other driver's fault) btw. Kahar is right.

She played nice with the insurance companies, and we got stuck with mega bills, uncompensated. Not to mention a near totalled car, that wasnt totalled, and is now worth shit used cause of the wreck. Fuck insurance companies, they will fuck you in a split second.

Also, some injuries can take a while, weeks, to show up. Especially neck and back injuries. You could be hurt worse than you think.

It's true. I"ve been in nine car accidents and you're always sore later. My friend totalled her car yesterday afternoon and that was what I suggested to her, go to the doctor now even if you don't feel pain right away.

quick true story that happened to my friend's family.

she was driving with a friend when she was involved in an accident with an electric truck that killed her. the passenger lived.

the parents of the girl sued the electric company, and with the money bought a new home among other things. six months later their son died in the fire that destroyed their home.

ask your lawyer to recommend a good chiropractor who is also a liscenced M.D. that can document whether you may have any spinal/back etc damage that may show up later.

my mom has had headaches for like 30 years now, it all started when she got bad whiplash from being rear-ended, which in her case may have caused permanent brainstem damage...of course she never pursued a lawsuit against the guy because the headaches didnt start till a few month after the accident.

Look zan, I understand your point of view, but insurance companies are assholes and frankly I refuse to be fucked over a damn barrel because Im nice. Nice guys finish last because their car is still fucked up after an accident.

I dont believe in sueing for his shirt but I do contact the insurance company of said guy and let him know what I want...Chiropractor, car paid for, and a rental while they fix my shit. If they balk then I get nasty. I have told an insurance company before 'Hey dont wanna settle? Fine by me, Ill be going to the Chiropractor the rest of my life' If the company gets shitty with me, I have a few clients I work for that are lawyers. I can ttrade a 4 hour hardware upgrade to them for the time it will take them to pick up the phone.

She's ok~ But if she hadnt been, we'd be paying for all the treatment and not the insurance company of the woman at fault. Or ours. Screwed.
