Just spent all fucking night in an emergency room. Wife has gall bladder problems or something... Fuckin asshole doctors/nurses took their fucking sweet ass time getting anything done. 2 fuckin hours to get back there, 2 fuckin hours for lab work, 2 more fuckin hours waiting for some ultrasound that was "coming any second" and still as of this writing hasn't come. Fuckers couldn't even be bothered to walk the 10 feet to her er room and say "everything ok? this is what we're doing next"

All of this with a completely empty ER and 4 nurses and a doctor standing around the nurses station bullshitting the whole time.

motherfuckers...

Was that sarcasm Ashly? I'm too tired to see it.

This is a small town. Not an ER like you see on TV.

If you took a scalpel and gashed the shit out of one of those doctors, I'd be willing to bet people would start scrambling and stop bullshitting.

Your small town er's and hospitals are understaffed, trust me. Everyone knows this.

If you didn't know this...let me fill you in. The nurses they graduate every May, are probably under-educated as well. They are literally graduating spoon-fed people after two years of pushing them through school, because staffing is in a lot of trouble in health care.

Four nurses....One doctor...One ER....No other patients...how is this understaffed? (The ER is small enough for me to see into each of the 5 private rooms where ER patients go after triage.)

The ER staff is independent from the rest of the hospital so it isn't like they're pulling double duty.

If they were standing around doing nothing, then I'd complain until I got some results.

Private hospital...that's the reason it sucks so bad, I think.

Their maternity wing is awesome though. It's like staying at a fancy hotel and when she goes into labor the bed magically transforms with stirrups and shit. I'd love to have one of them at home. (heh heh)

Did they have to wait for an on call doctor for the ultrasound? Or did the same doc do it all?

I hope everything is ok with your wife.

I know for sure the only time I haven't had to wait a long time at the ER was when Aryy's brother Eddie got third degree burns on his back. We rushed him in (he hates ambulances and hospitals so he said if he was going at all he wanted us to take him) and the people at the desk in the ER started to give us the typical bullshit, until I turned Eddie around and took the wet towel that I had laid across his burns off his back. They took one look and got on the intercom yelling and hauling ass.

Compare that to when I stopped breathing, had to be rushed to the hospital, once I was breathing they left me in the fucking hallway unsupervised for over an hour with no oxygen machine and then a bit later said oh shit, lets get her on o2.

Our ER is the same way sometimes. Small town, generally slow and fairly well staffed my friends tell me (er techs, paramedics). One day I gashed my thumb pretty bad and went in for stitches, and sat and sat for about 2 hours as different nurses came in to look and say "yes that could probably use 5 or 6" as they scrubbed it with a wire brush each time. "The doctor will be right in" I heard at least 5 times. Something about a baby dieing in the room over, whatever, I had to get to work so I left and superglued it.

They called me at work 4 hours later wondering where I was, and informed me there wouldn't be any charge. Quite nice of them.

When I went to the ER for my gallstones (didnt know at the time) they had me sit around while I was hyperventalating(omgsp?) because it hurt so much, so now my chest and my lungs hurt like hell. They finally lay me on a bed and give me some Tums. They didnt want to do an US because I was 6 months pregnant, so they sent me home. I went back in later that night, same pain and problems. They finally said they would do the US. It took QUITE a while for them to get the tech back to the hospital and they found all my little stones. Gave me some medicine and medicine to reduce the effects of the other medicine and sent me home again. I went back the next day, different hospital, the pills made me throw up like crazy and the pain was back. I got prompt service and morphine. God Bless Presby Plano. They put me on a diet, discussed if the problem STILL continued they would perform surgery, but didnt want to now.

Good luck with the gallstones.

Thanks for the well wishes. She goes to see the doc tomorrow to work out what the treatment is going to be.

i dealt with attacks for about 4 years before i had my gallbladder removed.

two options -

get it removed

or

get used to trips to the ER in the middle of the night.

and enjoy the percocets. you get them with either option.

there are ways to remove the stones without surgery, though i dont think that is usually considered a realistic option unless there is a specific reason why the surgery shouldnt be performed. and yes, they will come back. just getting rid of them doesnt stop the gallbladder from producing more of them.

assuming your wife isnt too sick to handle anestesia, its likely the only way she will be getting rid of the stones is by passing them, or removing her gallbladder.

there is a chance that it she may not have another attack in the near future, or ever again at all, but not likely. changing your diet can help, but i swear there were times when it seemed like i couldnt even eat ANYTHING without it giving me trouble.

i went through 4 years of it. there were long periods in between where i was fine, but many months were a real drag. you never know when its gonna sneak up on you and fuck your day up.

my suggestion would be if her doctor reccommends surgery - which he probably will - dont wait, just get it over with. It wasnt even remotely worth the hassle of putting it off.

I was hoping it was an isolated incident since she just gave birth on September 1st and I read it has ties to pregnancy or something to that effect.

:(

Mine was another generous gift from God through pregnancy. It started at 6 months pregnant and after my third trip to the ER, I was fine. That lasted about a year after my last trip. I thought they had gone away, and they might have, but they came back.
I would get the surgery. You are only put out of commission for a week, and since your baby is still a blob, she wont have to try and catch a kid, so it will be easier to do it now as recovery will be more pleasant.
Watching your diet was right out of the question, as even water or something like a plain sandwich could set it off.
After the surgery, she will still have to watch her diet, which is good in keeping her fine womanly figure. Eat a wrong food, though, and its time to pee out of your butt. So it's a good diet tool for me, keeps me off french fries, spicy foods, and other highly fatty foods, for the most part.

If you really want service in a hospital hold your breath until you start turning blue, then walk into the ER breathing heavily and clutching at your chest, they will see you right away. Works everytime for me....of course occasionally they want to give you bypass surgery or some shit
The object of life is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to come screaching in to the grave sidelong in a beatup wreck of a body, loudly proclaiming "WOW What a ride!"

Or become pregnant and pant heavily, holding your chest. You're put in the first of the line :)

Funny that that works for you, like I said in my above post. I stopped breathing, when I started again I was hyperventilating, my nails were blue, my face was blue,.... They left me in the fucking hallway until someone said WHOOPS SHE NEEDS OXYGEN.
