Moose meat

Postby Harrison » Sun Oct 16, 2005 3:56 pm

I had a stew last night made with moose meat, was pretty good.

Not that far off from beef, but closer to deer IMO.

Yeah, moose is pretty good...Buffalo is pretty good too.

Living up in Canada I get a lot of that stuff from one of my Metis friends.

Moose is excellent, provided as with any game, if it's properly killed and prepared.

Moose really is good if done correctly.

Emu burgers are pretty tasty, best way i can describe it is it tastes like "red" meat kinda, except it's shaped like poultry?

alligator is pretty much the opposite...looks like a "steak" of red meat but its colored like chicken and tastes kinda poultry-ish.

anyone tried rattlesnake or kangaroo?

rattlesnake is good, last year a guy I used to work with around the mines killed a giant of a rattlesnake in a slate dump and cooked it up, I for one thought it was good

I always heard gator was very greasy. Is that true?

(I had also heard that venison was shitty until I ate some that was prepared properly and loved it.)

The gator Ive had, blackened, was very good, dont remember it being too greasy at all. Loved it, soft and juicy.

But nothing beats a good steak. Still the best in my book.
