It's 1:15 in Hong Kong

Postby Jay » Sat Oct 15, 2005 10:41 am

Talk about the most painful flight ever. I was in uneasy the whole flight. I actually liked the food though. Anyways, Hong Kong looks great at night. I have wifi at my hotel so I'll still troll NT from time to time. If I can't get on, see you all in 2 weeks. Oh yeah, I gotta figure out how to set up an album thing so i can post pictures.

Flying is the only time I crave whiskey. I usually have two drinks and that's about all it takes at 30,000 ft.

Use VoIP to call back to the states while you're there. It worked like a charm when I was in China a month ago. Good luck with the jet lag. I found it pretty tough especially after I got home.

Have fun!

I don't have a strong desire to talk to anyone while I'm here. Text messages will do.

PS - this is the capital of pimp cell phones.

Hong Kong is for the most part the capital of tech anything. I was amazed at what was being offered there, it was years ahead of what we had available to us here. The time change was really rough, My first time there is took me over a week to adjust to the 12 hour time change, the second time I dont think I every completely adjusted.

The food here is incredible. The one drawback is that I saw the cell phone I just bought for 650 bucks instead of what I paid for it ><.

I got it for 879 from myworldphone.com. It's just a grown man's toy. I live alone, don't have a girlfriend, why not buy myself nice shit? /shrug. I have a Palm and an Ipod Nano too. I guess I've completely become a yuppie.

It doesn't do anything a $300 dollar phone wouldn't do, but it's made of stainless steel and has a glass screen, looks really cool. Has speaker, mp3 player, bluetooth, camera.

Oh and about my coworkers assistant. So I was talking to her about individuality and she was going on and on about how shes very individual and independant and she wont wear clothes that become popular and what not.

Well I guess her friend was gonna buy this crazy purse or some shit thats really expensive. She got pissed and said it's bullshit that her friend is buying it and that she's gonna buy it first. I ask her why, she tells me "Because that's MY style. My friends all steal MY style and then their boyfriends get uncomfortable around them because they are all trying to be like me and then the boyfriends come and hit on me. I'm doing her a favor." I just thought that was the most self centered thing I'd ever heard in my life =P.

oh oh, don't forget the pictures of the unique individual with all her friends who look just like her

I dunno, he probably uses that $800 cell phone more often than I use any of my $800+ rifles. If you have the money, and you see something you want, you buy it. Shrug. The only downfall I see is that electronics only lose value.

The Ericssons are nice but Nokia has the best text messaging system IMO. I did kinda want the w800 by ericsson cuz it's part orange but the 8800 looks a lot more sleek and pulls off the business look well. The way I see it, there's not gonna be much I'll want to buy in the upcoming years so I'm dropping a lot of cash now and saving by not making more purchases on phones.
