NFL - week 7

Post by Phlegm »

Best game this week i think is the Steelers-Bengals or Chargers-Eagles. With Roethlisberger back, the Steelers should do well this week although their top 3 receivers are questionable.

Miami-Kansas City game has been moved to Friday so enter your pick-em picks today.

Chiefs beat the Dolphins 30-20. Williams had 6 carries for minus 1 yards. Gus Ferrotte and the Dolphins' offense sucked ass. Almost half of their total yards came from 2 plays, a 61 yards run by Brown and a 77 pass by Ferrotte's replacement.

I guess the penance for having Marino all of those years is now decades of no QB.

:ugh:

I think the 49ers are suffering similar pennance.

My sole wish for the 49ers this year is that they will do badly enough to put themselves in a position to draft Reggie Bush. Leinart might be a better choice, but they can't realistically do that, unfortunately.

Philadelphia run defense was awesome today. They held Tomlinson to less than 10 yards rushing. Fucking Packers deserved to lose. They should have went for the win instead of the tie. The Niners are the worst team in the league by far.

So much for the bucks they gave Barlow.

San Fran has many, many holes. Fortunately they play in a crap division in a mediocre conference.

Miami is closer to being there, but plays in a tougher division and the AFC.

9ers need a real threat on offense.. so if they get #1 if Bush doens't stay at USC they will get him .. which will help alot.

Yes. The playoffs are made up of division winners and wildcards.

Man, Im just, on empty. I dont even have the energy this year to get mad and argue on the internetz. Two weeks in a row, bad officiating decides our games. Its unbearable. Its just disheartening to realize we could be 4-3 right now, if it werent for things outside of our control. Story of the Saints.

If (when) the NFL proves its fucking lying when they talk about community and the Saints leave New Orleans, Im done with the NFL. Officiating has ruined this game. Im serious. Only pro league that doesnt have full-time refs, every year there are multiple bullshit calls and nitpicky crap rules lawyering that decide entire games and the fate of teams. Who wants to see that? Not me.

Hey, ESPN now reporting Saints to LA in 2008.

Tagliabue : "The twin pillars of the NFL are football and community."

Reality : Hey guys, New Orleans is down and hurt, lets take this opportunity to move the Saints to L.A.! What? Loyal fanbase for 40 years of mediocrity and bad teams, 36 straight sellouts of the Superdome in a small, poor market? The team represents the NFL to the entire Gulf South? Who gives a fuck! TV REVENUE!
You were right Tikker. We suck.

yeah it's sad. They're saying San Antonio next year and LA by 08. I think the saints have played their last game in N.O. and that's a pretty low punch

If the cowboys would do me a huge favor and stop choking in the last couple minutes of the game, life would be grand. We'd be 6-1. Of course, they can't seem to fucking manage it!

Fuck the cowboys. Their owner is a cocksucker and their coach can't succeed most of the time unless he inherits a team worth a damn.

In fact, fuck all Texas teams in all sports...except the NBA because I don't want Vonk banning me..

You can say what you want about the owner, but at least he cares about winning. That's a lot better than some owners.

You're a fool when it comes to the coach though. He's a sure fire hall of famer, and has turned a lot of franchises around. Not simply 'inherited a team worth a damn.'

Wow what Bill Parcells are you thinking of? He is all but gauranteed to be in the hall of fame.

Sorry if I just don't see Hall of Fame marks with this:

1983 nyg 3-12-1 (They were 4-5 in the strike shortened year before him.)
1984 nyg 9-7
1985 nyg 10-6
1986 nyg 14-2
1987 nyg 6-9 (???)
1988 nyg 10-6
1989 nyg 12-4
1990 nyg 13-3 (8-8 after he left-bailed just in time!)
1993 nwe 5-11 (2-14 year before-hard to not beat with schedule/draft)
1994 nwe 10-6
1995 nwe 6-10 (???)
1996 nwe 11-5
1997 nyj 9-7 (1-15 before-again, hard to not beat-schedule/draft)
1998 nyj 12-4
1999 nyj 8-8 (wha? Parcels slipping AGAIN! Time to bail!)
2003 dal 10-6
2004 dal 6-10 (???)
2005 dal 4-3

Real Hall of Fame Material there.... :eyecrazy:

All it takes is winning a few super bowls to get in? Granted winning, hell even GETTING to one is awesome, but how tough was the conferences etc when he pulled this off? Considering his track record, probably not very.

Let's see him do this: 347-173-6 Hell, let's see him hold a job for longer than 8 years for that matter.

Then talk to me about Hall of Fame.

by the way whats Walsh's record.. can't remember.. dont think his wins would be on par to Shula's but he created the west coast offense and 3 superbowls.

Siefert was the fastest coach to 100 wins.. but not sure he is hall of fame material.. he inherited a crazy good team.. which stayed good all the years he was with them except one (still a winning season i believe). eventho he has 2 superbowls.

Parcells imo is in but not by much. Yes great coach to take 4 different teams to the playoffs and 2 superbowls.. but very much like larry brown in basketball. Leaves teams way too much.

Honestly if your gonna go by consistant winnings..

Walsh, Siefert are the only ones in the last 25 years that have had the sucess of winning and were consistant at it.. so many division titles and times to the NFC championship games.. playoffs etc. Something like 15 years out of 17 were winning seasons. i can't remember. All i kno is they won like 11 division titles. 5 superbowls, were in alot of NFC championship games etc.

Don't get me wrong, I like to talk smack on anyone who has had anything to do with an AFC East team and not helped the Phins somehow. =) Yeah, Parcells is a decent coach. I just don't think he is "OMFG HoF Shoe-In!!1" material though.

His first year as a head coach, yeah it sucked.
1984 nyg 9-7
1985 nyg 10-6
1986 nyg 14-2

Playoffs, Playoffs, Superbowl win
1987 nyg 6-9 (???)
1988 nyg 10-6

2 bad years
1989 nyg 12-4
1990 nyg 13-3 (8-8 after he left-bailed just in time!)

NFC East Champs, Superbowl win. He retires after winning the superbowl for medical reasons. Giants immediately goto 8-8 after he leaves. He left after winning a superbowl, hardly bailing on the team.
1993 nwe 5-11 (2-14 year before-hard to not beat with schedule/draft)
1994 nwe 10-6

in 2 years he took the 2-14 Pats to the playoffs.
1995 nwe 6-10 (???)
1996 nwe 11-5

4 years from the 2-14 pats they are in the superbowl. He leaves over disagreements with the owner.
1997 nyj 9-7 (1-15 before-again, hard to not beat-schedule/draft)
1998 nyj 12-4

In 1 year he takes the 1-15 (They were 3-13 the year before) to 9 - 7 and wins the AFC East in his second season with a 12 - 4 record. I dont care what you think of the AFC but he took a team that had been 4 - 28 over 2 years to a 12 - 4 team in 2 years.

He has now done this with 2 straing teams. I would hardly call it luck or that they were due.
1999 nyj 8-8 (wha? Parcels slipping AGAIN! Time to bail!)

This could be the first time you could make the asusmtion that he bailed even though he did stay on as GM for the team for a year.
2003 dal 10-6

Dallas had been 5-11 for 3 consecutive years, in his first year there he takes them to the playoffs. This is teh 3rd consecutive team has has turned around and brought to the playoffs.

So this coach that you see as bailing on his teams to take over good teams took over a 2-14 team, 1-15 team and a 5-11 team and took them all to the playoffs (1 to the superbowl). Name another coach who has the ability to turn around the worst teams in the league the way he has. He has been in the playoffs 9 out of 16 years and considering the teams he was taking over, thats a damn good record.

Playoffs equal dick in a place like the AFC East. With all the on again off again antics there EVERYONE gets to go every year or two. I'll give you the Giants "success" out of sympathy but the rest is lackluster at best.

Your weak excuses for this guy sound like a high school kid calling in to work so he can go party on a friday night.
