SWG: Jump to Lightspeed & Jedi Revamp

Post by Lyion »

The Jedi Revamp looks like a cool idea, and I'm interested in how they'll do the space expansion.

I really hope they put a 'Freelancer' type spin on it.

I actually liked SWG, but grew somewhat bored of it after a few months.

Anyone else interested in this?

I am somewhat, but this new job leaves me only weekends with enough time to play anything. And at that, my friends want to hang out since I really cant during the week :\

from what i've heard of the space combat it's supposedly like x-wing vs tie fighter, rather than just targeting and auto-fire.

i dunno, SWG actually looks decent now.

I still have a Master Doc/Swordsman on Corbantis. While a lot of changes have been for the good, this game is still FULL of exploits and zero high end content. Problem is nobody is using the PvP as it was intended. EVERYONE is working towards the exact same goal.....to open up a force sensitive character slot.

I thought as time wore on, SW:G might actually become interesting to play. Almost a full year later and it still sounds like crap.

Glad I stuck with my wait-and-see approach. Saved myself fifty bucks.

I have a Master Architect, that I may ressurect when this patch hits in late June/Early July...

I had enough fun times to justify the purchase, but it was very lacking in high end content...

Ugg the missions are horrible.

"Destroy the rebel airbase"

And I run 10 miles out only to find no airbase at all, but two dudes standing next to what looks like an air conditioner.

They had a lot of great ideas, the cartography and tradeskill systems were revolutionary. The graphics were great but the lack of high end content and the suckness of the misisons has me waiting until WoW and EQ2 come out. I'm going to concentrate 100% of my online gaming time on CoH until then.

I'm flexible. I seem to own every MMORPG, so if one seems to be turning the corner, I can reup!

Never played any of the Knight titles, but I thought KoTOR was pretty great.

Can't wait to see how KoTOR II turns out, especially since the studio responsible for it is made up largely of the old Black Isle folks. /glee

Apples and Oranges. KOTOR is a roleplaying game. Jedi Knight games are FPS' with a Light Sabre.

SWG is a wholly realized SIM world. SWG is an amazing 'foundation' and if the content catches up, as well as Sony fixing all the class issues, it will be an amazing game. Unfortunately their aim was so high, it'll take years for it to be realised.

I know. Just felt like tossing in my own (irrelevant) 2 cents~

Don't hold your breath, man (and certainly don't continue to pay monthly subscription fees while you wait for things to turn around). You're talking about $oE.

Nah, I quit SWG 3 months after release. I'll most likely resub when the Space Expansion comes out, to check it out. I enjoyed the game, but it just didnt have enough oomph to it to keep me playing.

SWG is by and far the best world and setting out there. The UI, Graphics, AI, and engine are way ahead of anything else. The problem is they need content, and more fun.

Being immersed in the SWG universe is great, but if all you are is a small cog in the wheel, its no fun.

It's pretty damn disappointing, really. I was counting on it to be, basically, EQ in space, but with more up-to-date graphics and mechanics.

It sounded extremely promising (too good to be true, perhaps), I was very eager to try it, but not so eager that I'd forget lessons learned from $oE's (mis-)handling of EQ and expansion releases.

As much as I'd love to give it a try, I don't think I'd play it now unless it was a free download with a free month-long trial period.
I won't try it otherwise though, because $oE isn't going to see another penny from me until they can prove they've gotten their shit together, but I think it's safe to say neither scenario is very likely.

I share an account with my brother which he plays alot and I log on ever couple months and play a little. The game is approaching the point it should ahve been at release, or at least what was promised and expected at release.

I have not looked but apparently there are indoor missions now? Anyone played nt he alst 2 months lol?

SWG has great potential, its just a matter of them realizing it.

Not me, I'm still busy with COH. I still have my account and may look into playing again soon. I'll definitely check out the expansion.

Yeah, you can go up and do the Correlia Mission (which are VERY hard), and you have a few more zones that are indoor with such things as passworded doors, that change for your specific grp on every entry (therefore calling for rogue type classes/smuggler). And even though you can have 6-7 grps in the zone, the passwords are different for each grp. Keeps the leapfrogging down.

I guess my biggest complaint is that you can master any proffession besides a couple in 2 days. Not 2 days played, 2 six to seven hour day grinds. Then what? No high end content? To stare at each other since nobody pvp's as it was intended? Or to decide what proffession you will master on your next weekend off.

I actually have alot of fun PVPing. There are some gross imbalances (or still were a few months ago) but it is fun. Raiding other cities was pretty good. Just beware of the insanely powerful combat medics who specialized in bio-warfare.
