Hey now! Don't lose my words of wisdom amongst the LionKing talk!
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

I'm staying at my office unless I move away.

But yeah, most real estate people change offices about once every 3 years from my understanding.

Then again, most real estate agents don't make it past their first year.

Tell your current boss you have an offer to be an office manager for 40K for a competing company (if he asks, tell him you can't disclose it) and you really like your current company and want to stay but can't pass on such a great opportunity. Then ask if only he could match it and change your title you would stay on with him....

You get the picture.

Make sure you keep your hours though. It would such to go on salary for 40k and have to work 80 hours a week. Then you basically get a pay cut as you now would be subject to all kinds of taxes and of course, less of a life. Make sure you think about all the options open to you.

I think her main gripe is her boss is an asshole, but she doesn't know if it is worth it or not to make another $12,000 a year at a different company where she doesn't know people.

It's not only that, Adam, I make things happen here. My whole office went on vacation last week, and I kept this place running, and made $43,000 in commissions. If a realtro doesn't understand something or is having a hard time getting things done, they come to me, and they know I can fix it. I am worshiped here to soome extent.

I personally think it sounds like you should hit up the new office, but do so in a cordial manner where you give your notice and help train a new person to replace you.

The Office on NBC sucks so fucking bad that anyone with any comedic taste should only be able to endure about 20 seconds of a show.

It is on the other end of the funny spectrum from it's British Cousin.

So I have this job, and it's cush. I get paid $10 an hour cash, and a bonus for on time closings, and they are great about working around my school schedule.

I will probably make $24,000 this year which is good because I only work 25 hours a week.

I sit in a real estate office and I make sure that all the files close on time. If you have ever bought a home, you have an idea of what that entails. For those of you who don't, this entails ordering inspections, keeping on mortgage companies butts to make sure we have loan aproval and papers get to title comapnies. I make sure the agents get paid the proper commission on each deal. I write checks, I do all the banking.

I love my boss. He sold me my first home years ago, and he is like my older brother. THey have been great to me. He is very chauvenisitc though, and he will not take blame for anything. He also threatens to hold my checks for a week until I remind him that I can write my own checks from the accounts. He is dishonest, and cheap. He also calls me EVERY SINGLE weekend and complains about stupid stuff. He probably has the worst rep out of al the realtors out there.

The girl who used to have this job moved to a ReMax office. I just got a call from my best friend who got me the job here. She said that the other office is sick of that girl and her unprofessionalism, and she is getting fired when they make their move to Century 21. We are a different branch though. That goes into effect in about a month or so.

Anyway, this office does 4 times as much business as our office, and my BASE starts at $36,000 a yr. I onyl know these people from reputatiopn though. There office is also farther away from my house, but I have day care there, and I was looking into an apartment in that town anyway.

Oh, give me some advice. I am confused, and I hatre making these decisions by myself.

I am very loyal which makes me want to stay on this sinking ship, but I also have to think about my wellfare, and the amount of stress this boss puts me through.

Thanks.

fuck corporate loyalty. THey will fuck you over for a dime... Job jump as much as you can and make as much money as you can.

End of story.

I agree with Insano. There is no company loyalty anymore. Everything is the bottom line now. More so because of the internet and cnbc. Companies will lay you off in a blink of an eye if they think it will keep their earnings high to appease the shareholders.

I started my own biz and have never looked back. Sometimes money can be scarce but the freedom of being your own boss more than makes up for it.

Company loyalty means nothing if the company is sinking. A great company deservant of loyalty will be one that flourishes and one that returns that loyalty with liquid compensation or perks and benefits. Loyalty to a job should be based on pay, ease of work, job security, benefits, and relationship with management.

Hard decision. Pros and Cons to both. I would list them out and then decide. Money is important but it isn't everything. Being happy with the people you work with and that respect you on a daily basis is nice. The thing is you might get both if you move to this new place. What do you value mose? Maybe it is time for a change?

wonderful. where the hell have you been? The above statement sounds nice, but thats about it.

Even companies showing record growth these days, still FUCK over their employees.

In today's economy the employee is not an investment that should be made to grow along with the company, they are the bottom line...Nothing more than an expense; which if, can be reduced, will be.

I'll say it again... IF you are going to work for someone else forget about being loyal. Earn as much as you can. If you have to jump jobs constantly to do it, then so be it.

Well, another good thing if I take this new job, I can afford to move into my own apartment which will relieve a WHOLE lot of stress in the homefront.

Did you mention what your current job said to you about you leaving? Did they offer to pay you more? or did you ask them for a raise? (I read your initial post but not others)
