Business level printing solutions and leasing...ATTN: Rust

HI, my name is Ralf Macchio and I have a question.

Its about time for my company to ditch the 5 or so low level shitty Dell printers it uses to operate and get something worth a damn...

It's been my experience in the past that the best, most efficient and cost-effective solution to office printing is to centralize the taks with a few high-end, fast workgroup level printers.

What I want to do is buy one badass color workgroup laser printer with fax, scan, 2-3 tray capacity, 800 or so sheets per tray and stapling capability. It must be network capable at least 30 sheets a minute.

I would also like to lease the thing.

Can anyone recommend any companies? I was really looking closely at the Xerox Phaser line of products.

I really don't want to pay the money up front, nor do I want to hassle with maintenance...

I would also like to be able to break the lease and get something bigger/better down the road if necessary. Is that possible?

Lastly, do any office levels printers have the ability to automatically tell the company when they are low on toner and just have the stuff delivered? I don't want to even waste time ordering it.

In your responses please keep in mind while cost is important I am the type of pirate that will pay for excellent service and an awesome product. I would say those two things are of a bigger concern to me than cost.

We lease a Savin CLP35 RPCS at my office. It does not have near as many functions as you have listed... so yeah. My opinion is crap.

However as far as the lease goes, we pay something like 3 cents per full color page and they do monthly maintenance on it, during which time they take care of toner etc etc etc. Due to the volume of papers we print however, we often find ourselves just changing the toner ourselves.

We also have the option of changing to larger machines without breaking the lease, we just purchase an upgrade to our plan.

Sweet. The ability to upgarde to bigger and better machines is key. I will never put printers on every desk at my company or even every five. I intend to have a few high quality printers/copiers strategically placed throughout the offices... If people have to get up and walk 20 feet to the printer they will print a lot less useless crap.

At my girlfriend's sister's office they have a massive Canon laserjet, that thing is nuts.

It has all of the options you listed and some, it's blazingly fast too.

the colour printers are HP 2600's

the stuff I print looks pretty good, and it's fairly fast

a lot of the big black&white printers are IBM's not HPs
they're ok too

we have around 50ish of the HP's and probably 500 of the IBMs (we have around 4000 employees)

I have to admit, I'm not a huge printer of pages (I prefer soft copy), but the HP does a really nice job when I need it to

Well i've looked at Canon's site and a hell of alot of their pages are broke or displaying the HTML code...

They may have good printers but I can't abide sloppy companies.

So in the last few days I have been in negotiation with Xerox and HP...I must admit my heart was leaning towards Xerox, but HP's sales reps were on point and gave me a much better quote on a superior office printer.

So far HP is definitely in the lead. I still have to talk to Kyocera though.
