I had the same problem, and then I found out my netword card was not compatible with my operating system, so I spent $15 on a new one, and it works great.

My brothers computer is still telling him that he is using an out of date driver and that damn driver isn't even on there anymore in device driver window.
WTF? Why does warcraft still see it if it has been uninstalled and a new one installed?
Also, windows firewall is off, norton firewall is off, yet the patcher says a firewall is on.
Fuckin annoying..I couldn't help him.

Fish: Do you go through a router that uses NAT? That counts as a firewall for this kinda thing. If you want it to work faster, set your PC to a specific IP, then go into the router and forward the ports the downloader uses to the IP of your PC. Speeds things up dramatically.
On mine it is fine, but on his all I know is he uses DSL (puke) through Bellsouth. No router, just a phone line coming in to an external DSL modem that then goes to a network card in his PC. Is there a way I can find out without talking to Bellsouth? I hate dealing with their tech support because when you call them I think it gets fast-tracked to Bangladesh and the guy on the other end speaks horrible english.

Most of the recent bell subscribers have been getting a newer modem that is actually a router/modem combo. If he has that, he'd still be on NAT with only one device.
