I'm willing to pay for the xboxlive for one reason, the perks. Email, friends list, ranking, tournament play, voice, game demo's, off game spec'ing. It's a long list of things.

Now I'm not sitting here saying my 360>Ps3. Who knows, when the PS3 releases, I may buy one. But for now, having owned every gaming console at some point, and being a true blood PC Gamer, I have to say I am nothing but happy with my 360. My only gripe is the shabby patching for old xbox games. (only lockup I have had is playing Fable and a patch to fix is coming across live soon).

Like someone mentioned before, playing games on a 55inch in 1080i and Dolby 5.1 is just incredible. And anyone who knocks the multiplayer capabilities of the console has yet to play PDZ multiplayer.

The way I saw it, I had the cash to upgrade my videocard for current games, although I need to upgrade my processor/board also. So I spent the cash on the 360 to enjoy the newer games at 60fps lagfree on the comfort of my couch. I'll upgrade my PC in a few months when Wolf 2 gets closer, being that my clanplay is about all I have left on my PC. http://clan-ss.com for any of you CS:Source players.

EDIT: One last perk I forgot to mention about my 360 that I LOVE is being able to network into my PC and stream all my audio/video's on my PC hard drive through my 360 into my living room. Does wonders for entertaining company. Also, my folks came by and I was able to show them pictures taken a few days ago on the 55inch screen instead of handing 4x6's around the table to get fingerprints all over them.

Kalec, is PDZ worth the $$? Bought a couple of games I havent opened yet, and Im not so sure about them now.

Not opened, returnable :
Call of Duty 2
Condemned

Condemned looks great, but possibly short. Same with COD2 Ive heard, at least the single player. Is the COD2 multiplayer worth keeping the game? Would you trade either of those games for PDZ?
You were right Tikker. We suck.

Hehe , hope not. Ive heard the stories. Doing a little burn-in now, if you will, home stress test. Leaving it on as much as possible with a disc in to see if any anomalies happen. So far so good.

Er, you get all that free on the Internet right now, though....So why pay MS for essentially nothing?

Anyways, I'm not an Anime person, but for those that are:

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/playstatio ... 146015.php

PS3 to Use Same Region Code for U.S

READ MORE: PS3, Piracy, Playstation 3, blu-ray, region encoding

Some Japanese publications are reporting that devices that use the Blu-ray disc technology will use a new region encoding system that will put Japan in the same region as North and South America. (Damn it, where’s Ashcraft and his Japanese language skills when you need them?) According to an Ars Technica write-up, if the new system is used, it would mean American fans of Japanese games and anime would be able to directly play content from Japan, without waiting for a separate product release or having to buy and import a console from Asia.

The Ars Technica article then goes on to point out the absurdity of region encoding as an attempt to curb that Bin-Ladenesque boogieman called piracy. Worth a read.

You can download the Condemned demo off xbox live if you want to give it a try first. Call of Duty 2 is great single player and the multi is fun. Condemned is probably the scariest game I have ever played. Hands down. As for PDZ, the single player SUCKS, but the multiplayer tops Halo. Seems to be a comination of Halo and Counterstrike. Best netcode i've seen in a multiplayer game in a very long time.

Thanks infoz, think I might take COD2 back, as I can play that on the computer if I want. Really bought the XBOX 360 for more arcade-like games and fun, the co-op multiplayer mode in PDZ sounds great.

I just started playing DOA4 last night. Freaking awesome game.

well

it's not like you can't do all that with your PC

I know that I do it all now

ps, 1080i is still way shittier resolution than you get on your pc, and with a projector, my 6 foot screen jabowns your weaksauce 55" screen

don't get me wrong

MS made a KICKASS decision to make it a networked media centre, and it's actually tempting me

I'm still going to wait for the PS3 but once they come out, and I can rent both the same weekend to test them out, i'll make a decision

I'll eventually end up with both, but not until the price stabilizes, and the second gen better 360s come out.

Between me and bro's we have all xbox 360 games, except like the sports game likes madden 06 nba 06 and fifa 06. But PDZ is worth the buy for multiplayer the modes like infection , onslaught , eradication easily own any halo 2 online mode. COD2 isnt bad I had already beat it on my comp but decided to buy it since it has far better graphics on 360. Need for Speed most wanted is pretty tight also cause the story line is pretty damn decent and the cops give you a real challenge, it's a great racing game, and this coming from a guy that normally cant stand them cause all you do in most of them is do laps like a billion times in just a little bit different courses. Condemend is a good game it is scary but if you want a little scary with a crap load of gore you must have quake 4 it is the goriest of xbox 360 games right now. They have a part where they show the bad guys cutting off your legs with a big ass saw. Very nice if you like gore. DOA 4 <---- WOW great great fighting game the graphics are the best so far for any xbox 360 game atm. The charecters and the backrounds are just beautiful. Multiplayer is also very very fun ( Will own you with Hayabusa = - ) ). Gun is a good game, storyline is great fighting system is great, missions and stuff are fun, but it took me only like 10 hours total to finish the game with a 100% finish, so not sure if it is worth the $60. Tony hawk american wasteland is a pretty decent skateboarding game it so far has the best story out of any tony hawk game and it is just plain fun, you can create your own modes , skateparks, or play co-op with a friend in an old tony hawk game. Kameo is a good game to get, it provides a refreshing new spin on games that I have not seen in a while and I have enjoyed playing it. PGR is about the same as need for speed in terms of enjoyability, it has beautiful cars beautiful landscapes, and many cars to choose from. Amped 3...... well you guys might like it and it scored decently on like xbox magazine and crap but it's a little trippy, it's like snowboarding on acid..... yeah. A few more also but my feengers hurtz just got done with DOA 4. = -/

Xbox yeah, but the 360 smokes anything I've seen on the PC besides tech demos and the like.

Yeah no kidding a $3000+ comp might give the same performance wise, but even then not sure if they would deliver the same graphics.

You're using some old and shitty technology, then.

The Xbox is the equivalent of an 800 dollar PC, with a stripped version of Windows Media Edition on it. EQ2, Half Life 2, and a few other games on my AMD box still blows away any games I've seen from my friend's 360. Perhaps future games will blow away the PC, but the 6 or so I've played so far haven't.

And screenshots are worthless. If you read what Tikker is saying, he's played both systems side by side and his opinion is PCs still own in graphics. I've also played both, and I have to agree. My PC kills the 360 in graphics performance so far.

You, are an idiot.

My computer already outperforms the 360, and I'm not done upgrading yet. I haven't spent anywhere NEAR 3000.

Not bad for 400 bucks =p

The thing that will kill the 360 is they will yet again get their asses handed to them courtesy of a Sony library.

Bill Gates needs to call Sega and ask them "So what was the deal with your platforms again?"

PCs are scaleable, from zero to Carl Sagans Billyuns. As an IT pro you should know a gaming console at 400 bucks, even with MS losing money hand over fist will not compete with a current top end PC in performance.

Someone posted a link of how much MS is losing on each Xbox, and it's a couple hundred bucks.

The 360 is great price/peformance setup and if one is looking solely for something new for gaming, it is a much, much more efficient bang for ones buck than getting a new PC. It also has some nice media center capabilties and is running what will eventually be DirectX 10.

The key will be the library and what games it entails, like Fish said.

Xbox Live is bullshit, and it amazes me people tout this subscription MSM crap as something great. Everything it offers is FREE on the 'Net already. It's where MS is making it's cash back, as well as the games.

The 360 also doesn't have a single game that interests me, or makes me want to retire my older consoles right now, that isn't available elsewhere.

My big problems with the 360 are:
I remember the problems with the first gen Xboxs. The early 360s seem flaky.
There is not a killer app for it.
The PS2 library is better than the Xbox one, by far.
They aren't promising backwards compatibility. They are abandoning the Xbox, in typical MS fashion.
Pay to play games on the 'Net. Fuck that. I can play tons of games and IM friends right now and it shouldn't and won't ever cost me a dime.

$800 is still alot more than $400 bucks, the argument will be relevant when you can get comparable perfomance from a $400 pc.

You must be playing it on a crappy 480p cause on my 1080i 52'' plasma tv it completely obliterates my PC graphics... and I have a little more then average comp it's not a supercomputer but not a piece of crap either. I have no clue how you can compare it to 360 COD 2 graphics..... but whatever.

Here are COMPLETE xbox 360 spec's.

Image

If you do a little research on the optimizing speeds the pipelines and all ati drivers start up speed and all that crap you will see that it is easily equivalent to a $3000 computer in terms of game performance and graphics.
