Peyton Manning
is so out of rthym.
Colts were flat. This is unfortunately what can happen when you take three to four weeks off. Pitt was rolling, and Indy was flat.
Amazingly, Indy still almost won, if not for a great tackle by Roeth, and a rare missedd FG by Vanderjagt.

I am a happy camper. I hated this fuckin redneck when he played for Tennessee. May he suffer a Marino fate of no ring.
Better yet, change the passing rules to give the QB passing yards for the actual 2 yard PASS and not for the 80 yards that are RUSHED for after it is caught. Watch how fast he stops being such a superstar QB.
Marino was a passer...Manning is a fucking tosser.

yeah way to go leader, point out the guys that bleed protecting you.
It goes along well with the other list of playoff failures
2003-04: whine to competition committee
2004-05: whine about the field conditions
2005-06: whine about your o-line
Can't wait till next year!

the point of a blitz is to bring more people than the other team can block -- You beat the blitz by audibling hot routes into the space vacated by the blitz
You can't blame an o-line when the purpose of a blitz is to bring more than your o-line is capable of blocking. That's a Bledsoe excuse for failure.

They were blitzing one ore two extras. When you have 7 blockers and 6 guys coming then you should be able to pick it up.
They weren't doing the Denver jail break blitz scheme.
Indys O Line usually gives him enough time to make one or two reads. In this game, he had no time and his protection hurt him.

You really should take the Manning quote in context too, not just the sound byte the media is feeding you.
As Lyion mentioned, Pittsburgh wasn't blitzing that many people. Keep in mind that they run a 3-4 defense, and frequently rush a linebacker, but that's still only a standard four man rush, not a full blitz.

Indeed. I'd hate it if anyone here would ever take a sports quote out of context.
Not half as much as you'd hate it if someone tried to fabricate a context for a quote!

DARKO STINKS
Please ignore me and continue with your silly barbarian game chat.

he said "there were protection problems"
he calls a lot of the protections, so it's not like he was just blaming someone else
If he had just said there were protection problems, that would've been cool. The issue I have is him insinuating someone else fucked up, with the 'I'll be a good teammate' spiel. It was out of character for him and indicated others were responsible for the loss.
That was a bullshit thing to say, I think.

He was asked about his protection by a reporter. What was he supposed to do, blatantly lie and claim it was fine? Go with the "no comment" indictment?
He didn't handle it as well as he could, but it wasn't the blanket condemnation people are pretending it was.
