49ers hire Norv Turner as Offensive Coordinator

This seems a trifle odd, the original West Coast offense team hiring a guy who orchestrated a power running offense in Dallas for years. Ah well, supposedly he's a good coordinator, and he certainly has nowhere to go but up from last season, so maybe it'll work out OK.

That's a great move for the 9ers. One thing Norv does well is develop QBs, and he should help that team immensely.

That does surprise me, as I pictured Norv heading back to Miami or Dallas.

Nah, he's known for being a terrible, terrible head coach, but he has implemented vertical passing games in his offenses. Except of course in Oakland, where he managed to completely bungle the Collins/Moss/Porter trifecta.

Norv did shit in Miami for the passing game the couple years he was here. Thinking that he would come back is insane.

It's amazing to me how two people that happened to be in the right place at the right time are forever hired and re-hired as coaches and assistants to this day.

Norv Turner and Dave Wannstedt cashed in on Minnesota's all-time worst trade, by stockpiling loads of talent with Dallas, and to this day are still reaping the benefits. It's really quite amazing.
