It's actually a very good story. The book is actually also excellent.

Connelly is nice eye candy, but has she actually been in any other decent movies?

Uhm Dark City was wayyyy too cheesy in parts to make it worthwhile. Wasn't she in Requiem for a Dream?

Yes, a much worse movie than Dark City.

She was in the movie Dark Water or something like that. Is she crazy? Is her husband playing tricks on her? You be the judge.

She was in Mulhulland Falls, and you get to see her boobies in it, too. That wasn't a terrible movie.

Does the book tell the REAL story of John Nash or follow the movie?

It's different from the movie, but I felt the movie got the 'spirit' of the book right, even if they truncated and changed some stuff. Really, the book is much, much deeper and better. The movie is missing a lot of pieces.

I'm not sure how accurate the book is, but it's very entertaining.

Acting wise it was a pretty good movie... as far as depicting mental illness, it was just stupid and totally unrealistic. Even the craziest of the crazy don't experience massive hallucinations with dozens of people and an intricate environment all at the same time. They wouldn't hallucinate a violent car chase. And to the extent of my knowledge, hallucinating detailed persons - let alone multiples - who consistently interact with you on complicated levels is extremely unlikely.

One could argue that they can do what they want for dramatic purposes, but when you are doing a movie about a real person and their real struggle with something like that (not to mention - a person that is still alive), it pretty much obliterates any meaning or value the movie has outside of entertainment.

Have you ever interacted with an actively hallucinating psychotic? Or is this some assumption you have made from your vast internet/book experience

    tee hee hee....

I did an internship at Texas Children's Hospital and had a supervisor who worked in Manhattan at Bellevue's ER as a psychologist, and she told me stories about some folks with remarkably elaborate tales, where they had come from, how long they had been alive, you would be suprised.

now that i read your whole message, it would NOT be extremely unlikely, someone who is dissasociative will have created an entirely alternate reality, think about how complex your web of exeperience, relationships, etc are, well they have that also, it is just not entirely based on reality....
