Actually yes, she did. If a journalist goes into a war zone, she reports to the nearest base. She then can go with the marines on the standard patrols. This is one of those happy feel good things institued which frankly I think is stupid.

This service has been around since before the Veitnam. Common military practice. Marines are usually used to this shit more so then a Navy man since most journalists dont wanna be stuck on a metal can out in the ocean. But yeah Spliffs standard procedure is to check in with a military detachment nearest the place you are interested in. All journalists do it. haha as a Marine Sgt. I would never ever have a journalist accompany my squad on patrol or anything remotely like that. Not because of their safety (i could give two shits about them) but they are not trained and they could fuck up and endanger the rest of my squad. I wouldn’t let that shit happen ever.
