Yar, the drug war is a war that can never be won.

The more pressure put on fighting drugs and increasing it's illegality, the greater the risk to produce/traffic them - hence a rise in drug price. When drugs become more valuable per-ounce than gold (which they are), people are going to get involved with them more and more - and with increased risks there is an increased visciousness with such traffic agents as the stakes of disputes become higher and the law offers no legal solution for them.
