Question about stinky smokers.
Moderator: Dictators in Training
I smoked for near 15 years, quit cold turkey. I now have an almost allergic reaction to cigarette smoke, makes me feel bad, eyes water chest hurts.
Smoking sucks, tobacco sucks. Glad I quit when I did (was about 27), much less chance of ending up with a tumor painfully eating my lungs and spreading to the rest of my body.
What's the 5 year survivalbility rate for a lung cancer diagnosis? Something like 5%.

You were right Tikker. We suck.
My hats off to you folks that can quit cold turkey AND stay off. I quit cold turkey for about 3 months but just picked it right back up like I had never stopped.

my addiction is copenhagen ><
Oh, disgusting. Back in my first go-around in college, there was a guy in my dorm section who chewed tobacco. He'd leave cups of chew spit all over the damn place. I knew more than one person who left a mug or something out, didn't see it for a few days, would finally find it squirreled in a corner somewhere, and when they'd go to look in it, it'd be full to the brim with 3-day old chew spit. /barf
One of the most disgusting habits, ever. Only redeeming value is you're not sharing your carcinogens with everyone around you.
Never really got into cigarette smoking. About the only time I ever did it is when I was completely fucked up on one thing or another, and then I'd smoke. Sometimes. Never really saw the point, I guess. I do have a bunch of friends that smoke, my brother smokes, and all 4 of my grandparents did when they were alive, so it's not like I've not been around it or anything. Just never appealed to me.

I smoke menthol lights and there's just something refreshing about the menthol I guess. Nothing refreshing about all of the other nasty ass side effects, but I love that "minty" feeling as the menthol is inhaled.
Other than that, they can have the sore throat the next morning, the congestion, the stuffy nose, the bad breath, etc.

I don't feel so bad about being hooked on smokes now...
chem dependancy. There is a higher mental/physical addiction the comes with nicotine due to the dopamine receptors that are triggered in the brain.
I tried to go cold turkey for about 4 weeks. worst 4 weeks of my fucking life. the DT's gave me some nasty ass migrianes. the main problem is the withdrawls on cigarettes are different for each user.
Now I am going cool turkey. Not Cold.

Burned the shit out of my arm (huge red raw spot) and I still wanted a cigarette...goddamn habit killed it...that and the inflamed arm. The gum tasted nasty. My mom was able to cut way back thanks to this filter she bought that cuts down the intake gradually over a month I think. Like week one it blocked 25%, week 2 50%, etc etc.
