scroll down about halfway.
Very very impressive. I might give EQ2 another look in 6-8 months since Vanguard is sounding like a fucking disaster so far.

Tossica: No, you're gay because you suck on cocks.
Darcler:
Get rid of the pictures of the goofy looking white guy. That opens two right there.

hahah count me in!
I wouldn't touch SWG with furor's dick.
EQ2 looks interesting... but right now I'm focusing on EQ1. Maybe this summer when I take a little more time off I'll be able to play another game.

All you people playing or re-upping on any particular server? Me the girl and a RL friend are thinking of taking advantage of the free transfer and moving off of AB. Not looking for anything hardcore, just some peeps to level up with. Preferably another highly populated server, but AB is kind of ridiculous these days.
What happens on NT stays on NT. Im pretty amiable and laidback in game
Maybe a better way to say that is, what are the populations like on your servers now after the merges? Dont want to end up somewhere desolate

I have a 34 Dirge on Mistmoore (cancelled atm) and quit playing only due to the lack of friends playing with me. I thought the game was incredible, and much deeper than most players gave credit. If I wasnt jumping back into casual play of EQ1, I'd be playing this.
Kalec Brotherwolfe - Retired Hierophant of EQ
Im a nonfanboi who loves the game as it is now. I played WoW for a while too, and Eve online and Guild Wars. EQ2 was boring, unbalanced, and buggy at release. Released way too early. Also they implemented some bad ideas that probably looked good on paper.
Now: The game is nothing like it was at release. Everything has been balanced, polished, or just plain redone completely. They werent scared of making major changes to game mechanics, and it has paid off. Most of the classes work well, a couple could use tweaking, but there is no longer a 'broken' class at all. Everything is doable. Dont listen to the official forum whiners.
All I can really say to those curious, is go download the free 7 day trial and check out the newb island and how combat works and stuff. I think youll like it.
the bad: The worst things about the game for still revolve around the graphics. There are some models that just suck (human female is just bad bad). And there are some driver issues going on. I run an nvidia SLi combo and Im having issues with heads and arms disappearing. But that will be fixed Im sure, it wasnt always like that. Still kind of annoying at the moment.
On the plus side, there was a memory leak for months that would cause the game to run badly after a few hours in. It has been fixed.
Tradeskills also still a little, eh. They are getting a revamp with KoS though, sounds good. There will now be, for instance, multiple armor types with different looks and stats per tier that crafters can make now, instead of every single 60 plate wearer running around in the same dark blue plate.

Hey Kalec if you want to re up let me know. Itching for a reason to leave AB, and Mistmoore is supposedly a pretty lively populated server.
If Kalec and Adivina on Mistmoore, that might be a good spot
38 bruiser
39 necro
friend just started an sk Im going to either level up a new char with him or mentor down, I have no problem mentoring down to help anyone.
And my gf's character, 39 Defiler, will come too. She doesnt have much time to play but I two box her quite a bit. Defiler is the best 2boc healer, so easy. Group ward ftw.

OK, opinions of the game.
Positives:
The game is very in depth with alot of lower level content added in the last 2 weeks. I atm have about 12 different alts running around so far the only class I find so fucking boring my 5 year old wont play it is Guardian. Otherwise alsmot all the classes I have played are very ejoyable. There is more than enough to do and the dring to 20 is no longer a issue since LU19 where they removed all subclasses from the game. You are now necro, mystic, Paladin, etc tec. at start.
Soloing: most of you like myself enjoy soloing as well as grouping. There are quite alot of solo friendly areas in game however imho they need to increase this aspect of the game.
Grouping: The are alot of zones for all levels that are group friendly, quite a few raiding zones go along this line as well. The main problem here is the lock out on some epic areas since the bot farmers decided it would be real fucking fun to jump in as a group, kill the epic guy and jump out...wash repeat. Now on some of the bigger epic zones there is a 6hr to 7day lock out on it. These are few and far between however.
Housing:
There are quite a few games out there that allow housing, but not on the graphics scale that EQ2 has. With a crafting class made specially for a furniture and interior decoration alot of different styles are available. Rooms start at a one bedroom place and go up to a 5bedroom suite with a fireplace and arbaritum(sp?). They are currently working on guild halls and hopefully this whould be set up soon.
Communication:
I have to say coming from some of the other games of the hated SOE line I believe the communication inside of EQ2 is by far the best out of the SOE line. Not a day goes by that the devs dont get online and give the community a heads up on WTH is going on with one thing or another. Alot of times they will tell people "this will be in this patch" or "We are working on that bug and we hope to have it resolved soon." after a week there is alot of times a followup post from the dev letting us know what the current situation is. I have myself reseicved pm's from devs letting me know what the status is of a problem I brought up on the forums.
Drawbacks.
Still alot of damn bot farmers around the neighorhood, and frankly I think that is the most annoying part of the game.
This is a very graphics intensive game if your not pushing a high end processor and video card box the game back up and give it to a real gamer. If you want to see intense graphics like the screen shots above you need the rig that can push it. This is not nintendo made for PC game here.
All in all sq2 is done alot of changes in the last couple months to make it a more enjoyable game.

I am thinking about buying EQ2. Is it very group dependant or can it be soloed like WoW? I don't like being forced to group to do anything in the game so that is the one thing keeping me from buying it.
Grouping is fun etc until no one groups anymore. (EQ1)

you can solo man, just dpeneds on the class. As a mystic I do alot of soloing just for the hell of it.
Depending on the class is depending on how well you can solo. However I guess all classes can solo in one form or another. Some are just better at it then others.
It also depends on the class you plan on soloing. Rogue Type classes(Swashbuckler, Troubador, Dirge, Assasin, Ranger, Brigand) are better at wasting Priest clases(shamn, Defiler, Mystic, Templar, Inquisitor). Mage Classes are taken down fast by tanks. And Healer classes are better against tank classes.
When it comes to NPC's certain classes have a easier time on different tytpes of creatures Paladin vs Undead, Cleric vs Undead. Mystic versus Shadow etc.
Alot depends on your ability but should you decide to jump in let me know. Ill be more than happy to set you up in our little guild (which is slowly becomming a NT guild) And we have enough people wandering around that can give you specific info concerning play styles on just about any class. We currently play on Highkeep however they are merging servers soon(dumb move imho) and we will be on Butcherbutt.
Drop me a line in game when you get situated Ill do what I can to hekp.
