Other than that, they can have the sore throat the next morning, the congestion, the stuffy nose, the bad breath, etc.

i used to smoke marlboro menthol full-flavor... the mintiness is definitely mmmgood.

I've also been told that most of the gum tastes like you are chewing on black pepper. Not too appealing if you ask me.

The navy converted me to menthol.

I think smokers neither look cool nor angry. I tend to see them looking like they are in pain when they are smoking.

Inhale (eyes squinted, looks like someone is pulling their face backwards-all except the mouth)
exhale (to keep from just blowing it wherever, people crane their necks, push their mouths into a certain direction)

I hate the idea of someone watching me smoke a cigarette, I probably look awful.

When Jj tried to use the patches, using the strongest ones, he cut down to about 10 cigs a day from a pack a day, but was not able to quit completely. When he tried to quit completely, he made it 6 days with the worst shakes, sweats, migraines, and cough you have ever seen (well, the worst next to watching my dad trying to quit - he vomits too). The patches did jack shit to curve the cravings, and I personally think that they just made the withdrawal symptoms worse when the fits would hit.
The nicotine gum, according to Jj, tastes like a dirty, minty ashtray. There's no way he could use the stuff to actually quit.

I smoked for 11 years, and quit cold turkey living in a house with 3 other smokers. I never had a single withdrawal symptom either - not a nic fit, shake, or anything. I have no idea why.
I don't want my kids associating the smell of cigarette smoke with "home" the way I have my whole life (both my folks smoke 2 packs a day and smoke indoors). That, and emphysema runs rampant on my dad's side, like bad. I don't want to live my remaining years strapped to an oxygen tank. :ugh:

I think I just have a strong strong will when it comes to withdrawal symptoms, that and I have experienced much much worse. I take Paxil for anxiety, and the withdrawal symptoms from that are medically considered to be stronger and more painful than those of herion withdrawal. Even missing a day has me in agony, so ciggs were nothing for me.

I quit in one day when I met Matt. I stayed off for a year, then after Hailey, I started smoking again. I need to stop again, but it is proving to be more difficult that it was last time.

I think the concept of second hand smoking and kids should be enough, but I've never been a smoker, and I sympathise with any addiction.

It doesn't matter if you don't smoke indoors, it will get to the kid. Not sure why any parent would do that to their child.

No kids, no problem.

Depends how you define addiction. Coke may be harder to kick initially than cigs, but I bet cigs have a higher relapse rate. In fact Im sure of it. Its why nicotine is considered the most addictive drug. Cause people just cant stay off the damn things.

And as far as being scared of withdrawals, or them being too tough to deal with. Ive never had an issue with that. Sure you feel bad for a few days, but big deal Ive had worse flus. I just focused on how unecessary the cigarettes were, no matter what my body was telling me. I wasnt born with one in my mouth (well my mom smoked so kinda). You wont die without them, the withdrawals are just the last desparate attempt of the nicotine to pull the puppet strings. The withdrawals actually strengthened my desire to quit. Angry I let a cancer-drug exert that much control over me for so long.
