It's all about library in my opinion. PS2's library dwarfs Xbox's (the original) to this very day even after all of the chances Xbox had to overtake it.

Now we see the same trend with the 360.

The library, or lack thereof, will be the 360's undoing.

The PS3 is in no way near superior or "slightly" superior to the xbox 360 in terms of hardware. The last post I made in the other worlds section even has an article one of their very own sony employee's knowning that the ps3 is a piece of shit.

It definately depends on how the software devs take advantage of the systems and Sony has been on top of the industry since PS1 and has much more japanese support than XBox does. Japanese support = better games. Better games = better system.

Of course, that's a matter of opinion too. PS2 games meshed better with me than XBox did. I felt PS2 had better titles and more selection as opposed to every trailer park assclown and their brother buying an XBox because of Halo 2, which by all means is a mediocre FPS that pales in comparison to CS or Doom 3.

Had the PS3 launched at the same time as the the 360, I know it would have blown the 360 out of the water in sales just like it's predecessor did. It is not microsoft's fault that most people dont have HDTV's to play their Xbox 360 on. I am guessing when ps3 comes out that will be the same problem. But for those people that do have an HDTV the xbox 360 COD graphics do look vastly improved from COD big red one. People do buy new console's for better graphics, I dont know wtf you are talking about performance wise the ps1 or nintendo handle's just as good as a fucking xbox 360....(depending on controller preference) but of course the ps1 or ps2 or lacking on the xbox 360 graphics. The graphics are pretty much the only reason why new console's come out.

If we agree about the things you would expect from an “Emotion Engine”, then Sony promised something in 2000 that will finally become real with the next generation of real-time graphics. Not only is this five years later than initially promised, the truth is they won’t be the first ones to deliver it.

In my opinion, Sony sat on their laurels with the implementation of the Emotion Engine. Go back to 1999 and put on their shoes. You have to design your next cоnsоle. Your first foray into vіdeоgames has been a tremendous success, far beyond your own expectations. Your competitors are ruined. Nіntendо 64 is at the end of its cycle and Sega is rumored to be leaving the business, at least as a cоnsоle manufacturer, because the Dreаmcаst is not performing up to snuff. In the next generation, you won’t have serious competition so you can develop great architecture and unleash its power in small quantities, because there is no need for more.

Proof? The PlayStatiоn 2 has only 4MB of video RAM; the cause of many of the limitations the cоnsоle has when it comes to graphics. That is like putting cheap tires and low octane fuel in a Lamborghini Diablo. But if you don’t need to race against anyone, why would you need anything more?

But just like Intel got its AΜD, Achilles his Paris, and everyone who tried to abuse a dominant position, Sony got its Microsoft. The consumer electronics giant received a two-hit punch from the world’s largest software maker. It wasn’t enough to knock Sony down, but now the PlayStation maker knows it has a serious competitor for the upcoming years.
