Is it just me? Do any of you find yourself rooting against US wins. Do any of you feel happy that after all the fuckin Nike hype Bode Miller is a washout? Do you think Shanni Davis is a prick for not supporting the team? Do you hope that Sasha Cohen falls on her butt tonight?

I hate to feel this way but I'm finding it very hard to be patriotic these days. Don't get me wrong I love my country, I'm a good citizen, pay my taxes, support my church and give of myself in time of crisis. But I'm not very enthusiastic when I look at my compatriots on the world stage.

Yeah I know thats only sport, and when you really break it down it's all about individual effort...it's doesn't matter where you come from. Maybe it just brings it a little closer to home for me. When someone from Belarus loses or wins, when Norway shows the world how it's done in the alpine.

I've known alot of folks from other countries over the years. I think they are afraid of us now, and not because of our sports. In time we won't be the bully on the block, I wonder how we'll take that news.

Ive watched almost every event so far in the Olympics, I love for these few weeks, i guess because I grew up ski racing for a long time. I am dissappointed in Bode this Olympics, but everyone has their off years I guess.

I havent watched but 2 events, and that was because I happened to be in the room. Half pike and....oh, speed skating.

I much prefer the summer games. I dont like figure skating.

Ok, I went back and read your post. Bodehas been my favorite skiier for years and years, but lately he is starting to ge ton my nerves a little bit. Like going out to a bar til 2am the night before an event...that just doesnt seem to smart. And in the Downhill when he used a pair of skis that he had never skiied on, that doesnt seem too bright, but then again I think its safe to say he knows what hes doing a little more than I... All in all, I guess hes pretty much done seeing he keeps screwing up lately.

I was very glad to see Ligety win a gold tho, I mean shit hes 21 years old, thats pretty bad ass

As far as the Shanni shit, I never quite liked him too much anyways..

He basically said he didn't like the Winter Olympics because it reminded him of a Republican convention. More or less saying "too many white people" for his taste.

Now imagine if a white dude said he didn't like the NBA because it looked like a Democrat convention at a rap concert... all hell would break loose...
