Houston trading the #1 pick.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush might not land with the Houston Texans after all.

Texans general manager Charley Casserly said Sunday that the Texans have been talking to teams about possibly trading the first pick in the 2006 draft.

It has been widely speculated that the Heisman Trophy winning running back out of Southern California would end up with the Texans because they recently gave quarterback David Carr a three-year contract extension.

The Texans, who finished 2-14 last season, have multiple needs that might be filled with one major move.

"There's clearly players at the top of this draft that are marquee players," Casserly said. "Players that are impact players, players that are going to go to the Pro Bowl, players that are going to sell tickets. We're going to get offers for this pick. We've already had discussions with teams. I think there's value in our pick.

"Whether it's Reggie Bush, Vince Young or Matt Leinart, those three players are going to produce trade offers. We are definitely going to have some choices when it comes to draft day."

But to whom? In order to trade, you have to have a dancing partner.

Reggie sure would look good with a horseshoe on the side of his helmet.

That's an interesting thought. Considering that financially it's going to be hard for the Colts to resign Edge. What would they give for the pick though? Their first rounder + who?

Texans are looking for several picks to fill many holes.

Indy has their marquee players wrapped up, sans Edge who is nearing 30, which is the death knoll time for RBs.

1st Rd, 2nd rd, 5th, 7th + 2nd and 4th next year would do it, since Houston has so many holes and is looking to draft more bodies

Why do you even think Indy wouldtrade up take Bush? They aren't resigning Edge because they don't have the money. Reggie will command more...

Plus the Colts don't have enough cap space to pay a first pick in the draft what he wants. I don't think the Texans will trade down as it is too hard to get an equal amount of value for the first pick because teams don't like to give up their whole draft. I think it would be in their best interest to trade down a couple spots to number three or four and pick up D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who will be an all-pro OL in this league for awhile. Texans need a new OL!!

No, the colts aren't signing edge, due to his demands. They could afford him, but are against signing an aging RB to a big dollar deal.

There is a lot of RB talent one can get via the draft, and I think its a smart move.

There is a salary cap this season. There are no cap in 2007 unless they get a new cba.

They'll have a CBA ironed out next week. Bank on it, and the next 10 years will be setup. The NFL is skyrocketing, and the PA and Owners won't screw it up, a la baseball.
