Describe your inernet connection. DSL, Cable? See if you can get a model number for every device between your computer and wherever your internet connection comes from.

Norton firewall isn't worth 3 cents. I cant count the number of times it completely blocked outgoing traffic on a box because it though it was a danger to the comp. If a firewall is important to you, buy a router. ZyXEL makes a few nice ones that are not all that expensive.
