Look at the UAE's track record:

- Support of the Taliban (a group of people who want to see us all die).

- Served as a key transfer point for nuclear materials to Iran, Lybia and North Korea (more people who want to see us die).

- They refused to cooperate in helping with efforts to track down bin Laden's bank money.

- Two of the hijackers in the 9/11 attack were from the UAE.

- Money was transfered to the hijackers through the UAE banking system.

- Over 70% of its population is anti-American.

Some how I would sleep better knowing a country like Britian had control over some our LARGEST ports than a country that has clearly supported terrorism in the past.

Only 5% of the cargo containers that come into this country get inspected, which is bad enough. Let's not be foolish and put ourselves even MORE at risk by allowing a country, with a very shaddy past, to have control over our ports.

They may not be in charge of security, but they will be in charge of most of the manifests. Chances are a lot less that a European company will turn a blind eye while some camel jocky loads a bio weapon under the listing of "computer parts."

The Bush administration has been shakey on this issue. First it was only 6 ports, then it was 22, now it's only 6 again. 70% of people polled think this is a bad idea - from BOTH sides of the political fense. Yet, that monkey wants to do what HE wants - despite what the majority of the country wants.

While I'm not a big fan of liberalism - I still think Bush is a raving dip shit with an IQ equal that of a potato. Like our reasons for going into Iraq - let's see how many times the story on "why" he wants to do this changes.

I live IN A PORT CITY. Port security is a topic of daily discussion - not to mention I know a great deal of people who work as longshoremen and spotter truck drivers for the port.

It's bad enough that the vast majority of containers come into our country without being inspected - we don't need to hand over certain powers over the ports to a county that has demonstrated in the past that they'd like to see all of dead.

It has nothing to do with race - if this were the late 1940's and some German company wanted to buy our ports - I'd say the same exact thing. No.

Would you want your kids placed in the care of a man who was convicted of child molestation in the past? Just because he's turned over a new leaf and is now a good guy, or because the police can't really keep an eye on him all the time doesn't make it a good idea.

I don't have a cover letter, I own the company. I work as a driver for some folks, they don't need a cover letter, they know what I can do. One of the benefits of being middle aged I spose.
