teamspeak help

not interested in any why don't you use ___, program instead.

My problem is this, I have a router, my other computers in my network can connect fine but nobody from outside seems to be able to. I've got into my router settings and done the port forwarding thing but it didn't help. I have an old linksys router. I've spent time with linksys tech support, and we tinkered with a few things, i've read the teamspeak boards about making it work with a router, nothing seems to help. I've also made sure that the port and the program were listed as exceptions in windows firewall.

Any thoughts?

Try turning off Windows Firewall and see if it works.

That's the only suggestion I can come up with.

I use both TS and Ventrilo, I'd disable windows shitwall.

i've got a Dynex, but it seems similar to the Linksys i used to have. check your router's web page interface for either Virtual Server, or DMZ tabs

you could try setting up a virtual server, enter the IP for whichever computer is hosting the teamspeak server, along with the port info. or try setting the host for DMZ, which should allow anything access.

you're right, i wouldn't try it untill you've exhausted everything else

but Zero Cool won't hack your gibson if you leave DMZ open for the few hours you're running a teamspeak server.

Snero... Do you have a static IP on your computer that is running teamspeak?

Did you turn off any firewalls?

Another thing... I would narrow down the root cause... Connect the computer running TS directly to your cable modem or DSL and see if it works. Then put the router back in.

It will be alot easier to troubleshoot if you can get down to the simpliest of configurations and get it working and then add things back in.

PS I fucking hate Ventrillo and TS. WHy can't they develop something that doesn't sound like asscrap?

I've turned off windows firewall, and tikker has gone over my routers settings with me, but it still doesn't seem to be working.

Also the linksys tech support people had me set up a static IP to that computer using set up TCP IP thing. I've done everything I can think of short of unplugging the router, but i've had some bad experiences doing that in the past and would rather avoid if possible. Any other ideas? it works fine when I connect with my other computer, only thing I can think of is the settings for the teamspeak server software, but I've tried some online program to probe the port and it said there was nothing there, so it's not open
